This term refers to the beat when it is broken. Take a beat and at best, cut it in half.. hence.. breakbeats. The term breakbeat can also refer to the sound of things breaking (i.e. plates, glasses). This style of music dates back to the early Indian nations that used dried Beets inside of small coconuts or clay pottery to create the sound of Buffalo traveling in herds.

3. Intelligent Breaks
This is simply wearing eye protection or other protective gear while listening to the music. Simply standing back a few feet also qualifies as intelligent.
