yeah - no reports of terrorists - But Ohio, New Jesery, New York and Toronto are 'enjoying the dark' - it appears to be moving west :)

apparently everyone and their dog is trying to use their cell phones - so everything is getting all jammed up

Imagine being in a city the size of New York and suddenly everything goes dark...

Its day time there So noone is in the dark unless your in the subway. I would assume atmospheric wise its the same as a power outage here. Just a really big one..

Hospitals (and all critical buildings) all have backup generators in case of situations like this but I do agree that people that are under care at their own home might be in quite the scary situation.

I took a visit to the BC Gov't IT division in Victoria and there is a massive concrete bunker with power generation equipment on standby in case of a blackout.

ive been watching the news for about an hour and im glad everything seems to be in order... kinda neat seeing the public help with the traffic at intersections and all. its going to be really different when it gets dark though.. think of a pitch dark city..scary. and thank god for back up power.

lucky that kraig's flight was yesterday afternoon and not today! or he'd be stuck in t dot o dot!.....even though thats not a bad thing at all.

i was going towards the "i would love to be stuck in toronto for a few extra days" but after re-reading that.. yea losing kraig to toronto wouldn't be a bad thing at all. :hehe:

Wow! 11 million people without power. That's intense! :284: I love how the Americans pointed the finger at Canada for the source of the power outage. Heard it's been reversed and it was started in Ohio due to a lightning storm that hit a huge power system.

I came in at 9am today..

because I work for IBM, this is causing chaos for the whole company as most of it is based out east....
it looks like I'll be working OT today, and I have just been informed that being here past midnight is a possibility :284:
....however, with enough coffee, anything is possible
