mates with a shitzu female can she bare the puppies?

Mu first two thoughts:

a) she will die

b) their genes are so different they are almost like separate species and therefore cannot reproduce.

Thoughts?

hmm having a tough time just with the mating itself
thats not like a couple of inches different
but im thinking if possible the puppies will be small with big feet and grow super huge with funny fur

I'm not too sure how that works actually, but I'd personally be more worried about her safety during the pregnancy with the possibility of creating a litter too large for her to carry/give birth to. Then again, are great dane puppies really that large when they are born? The mother may have trouble during pregnancy and might need an operation to remove the puppies when they come to term, but it doesn't really make sense that an animal would produce something large enough to kill itself from inside, or does it?

You'd have to consult with a veteranarian or breeder for a substantial answer to this question.

puppies are pretty small when they first come out. the larger breeds just grow faster than the smaller ones.

Nope it wouldnt be able to happen. I wasnt able to breed my multese cross poddle because her bones are so small and even if she was to mate with a dog of her breed there is a good chance a puppy could get stuck on the way out and she could die.

Yeah, thats what I figured. I knew most puppies were aprox. the same size, I've just never seen a great dane pup so I'm not sure how large it would be in relation to a shitsu'z normal offspring.

Valerie, Maltese terriors have alot of problems bearing offspring. We couldn't breed ours either, but I think there are ways to go about a pregnancy like that if you are willing to risk your dogs life or pay big bucks for an operation instead of a natural birth. They have to be born somehow :)
