People who go to parties and still bitch about how bad they are.
I read the thread on IMF, I read the thread about the upcoming Spooky party, I read the threads of the last few parties.
People always find a way to find something wrong with it, the music sucked, the sound sucked, the people sucked or say they didn't have a good time at the party. I do not understand how I can say that I ALWAYS find a way to have a good time at a party. Even at Heartbreaker which I put down as the WORST party I have ever been to I had a decent time there. Am I just fucking weird or am I missing something that other people find that makes a party suck? At IMF I had a blast! Yes... I am a trancehead, but I still checked out other rooms, flailed for a bit at Hirshee's great set but I had to finally give into the darkside and ventured into the main room. I admitted that I knew many of the tracks spun that night. In fact I pegged almost every track Dumonde lay down. So what!?? Sure I could have stayed at home and listened to them on my PC, but it is not the same. Hearing Trauma, God Music, Can You Dig It on a monster sound system made me smile, it made me jump up and down with joy. Seeing Dumonde look up and smile as I flailed away (or I thought they did... I might have just been imagining things...) cracked me up. A party is truly what you make of it. If you went out of your way to GO to the party then how can one not find a way to have a good time. I really want to know as I feel left out as the only person that has fun while everyone else has a shitty time. I want to know what it is like to have a shitty time one of these days. |

I know what you mean! I always have fun. Others seam to CREATE a reason to complain and not have a good time. I like to see the huge set ups and hear the crazy sound systems - but honestly I've had a blast at party's where there's a system set up on the back of a truck - partying in the rain! :) Bumpin music, great friends, people going off having an awesome time - that's all I need. I usually just feed off the energy from the crowd and I'm completely happy.

i think alot of u vancouver people take the whole scene for granted, u have parties ever single weekend you have wicked clubs awsome dj's and you still expect more. I wish i was in all ur positions. If im lucky i get to travel 12 hours once or twice a month just to go to a party that all of you would probly walk out of cause the system sucks and theres no top 100 dj's spinning there. I went to a party on sat too, it was on top of a hill with a fire and some fuck head playing cypress hill out of his car, what did u guys all do go to I.M.F. I totally agree with MC hammered suck it up stop being whiny and just remeber how lucky u are.

Time to play the devil's advocate here...
If people aren't going to be critical, then how will things ever change? If we're all YAY FUN THE BEST, then we're just going to be stuck in a cycle of seriesmania at the same two venues, which is good and bad...but everyone can agree that variety is always refreshing. |

It just seems I usually don't find many faults at parties as others do and I wonder why... that's all. |

I never hear anyone bitch about parties when I go up there. It doesnt even compare, how much bitching and moaning seattle kids do. I dont think ya'll even know, so "I feel ya" when it comes to being sick of the shit.
I thought parties were meant for having fun times, not having a bitchfest. Some people need to seriously lighten-the-fuck-up. =P |

First of all...I completely agree with you MC Hammered...and yes i also agree with miss.myra..because you both have valid points
Am I one of the many who bitch about the LITTLEST things about parties? NO! If you guys expect soooo much then try throwing one yourself. Sure everything seems so simple and nice. In reality though..it's not. It's takes the time and effort for the promoters to do what they do at shows. IMF was by far the best party of the year. I had a hella fuckin good time there. Not everybody gets their way shall I say but hey that's LIFE! Deal with it. Put up with what you get and enjoy it. Since you bought the ticket already you might as well go to the party and take the POSTIVES and the vibe all around at IMF and other parties are generally GOOD. So stop being so picky by saying all this gay bullshit. "Oh the sound wasn't that great...the lighting could have been better" Stop being a bitch and suck it up Now to take miss.myra's side. I agree with you when people don't push the promoters to the next level the scene will not have gotten to the point of where it is today. I appreciate that EXCEPT the fact that just way too many people say they could've done this and they would've done that. I mean I'm thankful for all their inputs and all but sometimes people just got to learn how to shut the fuck up!!! :finger: I've been a partier since i was 14...before i would just go for the drugs and all but now i go to have a good time....I used to think I knew it all...but now i realize that I don't. Now all i can do is appreciate the fact that the promoters put in so much time and effort into each and every party they throw. It's not as easy as it seems. Enjoy the parties while your at them...don't bitch and complain afterwards. |

This is a board to express opinions is it not? I think if someone thought a certain part of a show was neglected then they should be able to point that out, thats how promoters learn right? Just like people should express the parts of the show that they liked, each party has the good and the bad, so why not point it out? I agree some people just bitch waaay to much and have no idea how hard it is to throw a party, but like myra said, it lets the promoters know what was liked and what wasnt, hopfully helping them to throw and even better party next time :)

listen to myra. she summed it all up perfectly for you guys. how do you think things will get better unless you push for them to get better.
that said, even if i bitch about sound/lighting etc, that doesnt mean i didnt have fun at the party. its a rare time when i cant enjoy myself somehow. |

i've probably said that almost all the parties i've been to in the past couple years weren't too good. or they could've done things better.
but that doesn't mean i didn't have a good time. i think it's pretty retarded though, that some people actually have to force themselves to have a good time for the sake of 'the scene'... IMF felt like a really dry party though. what happened to having activities at raves? like an inflated bouncy castle or something... IMF was just like... tables and dj's: here's your music, thank-you kids for your money, dance and do drugs. so many parties are turning into that. remember fantasia a few years ago? they had like fucken SNOW falling from the ceilings in the plaza! that was WICKED! i don't think all promoters understand that some kids want more than a namebrand dj and big bassbins. personally, i want an atmosphere that i can run around in and live in a fantasy for a night. sorry if i don't have fantasies about drowning in empty water bottles and walking through a sea of cracked out zombies. |

and i mean this with the most respect and love i can muster from my sludge filled heart....eat shit and die.
it's weird...you either have 'bitter jaded raver' or 'twinky plurbag' raver...very little middle ground make the best of what you have. my cat once said, " if ya dun have nuttin nice to say, shut the fuck up...and fill my food bowl" |
