Settling w/ ICBC or Hiring a lawyer
I have a triple-claim open right now and I'm wondering whether I should settle w/ my adjustor or hire a lawyer. They're offering me a substantial amount of money, but I'm not sure whether I will get more if I settle w/ a lawyer or not...or if the extra amount will be substantial enough to even make the hassle worth it since they charge at least a 40% fee. I'm thinking about just settling w/ my adjustor and trying to agree on a bit of a higher amount.
Any of you guys have experience with ICBC and this kinda stuff please reply w/ your thoughts! |

See what ICBC offers then go speak to a few lawyers and work out a deal since you don't get charged anything for the initial sitdown with one.
Most lawyers work on contingency and the percentage can fluctuate depending on how much you get. Once again this is negotiable. If they don't want to deal then go to another one. It's not like there are a shortage of them in the Yellow Pages. You are in a no lose situation... ICBC is going to pay you out so a lawyer can either work for you and help you get more and get paid... or you get paid and he/she eats instant noodles for that month. |

it all depends on the situation
icbc knows when they are going to lose in court so they will give you a decent offer quickly its all about you if you lots of documentation on your claim then you stand a good chance in court if you need the money now... make a counter offer...and settle if you dont need the money and you have a legitmate case then take them to court because with proper documention on your claim icbc wont stand a chance but just remember if you take them to court they will go all out against you unless they know they will lose then just telling them that you will get a lawyer will scare them into a higher payout there a so many factors... and icbc is never acts the the same way twice plus your adjustor can have a huge part in things so like i said its all so circumstancial |
