Just a quote.
(I post too much.)
Anyway, I came across this quotation a few weeks ago and it chilled me to the bone. It's so stark, and so honest, and so incredibly, well, scary. Heh. "It is a great thing for rulers that men do not think." - Adolf Hitler To me this brings up the question of our blind acceptance of authoritative figures, be they teachers, parents, or political leaders. Why do we have this acceptance, this faith? Do we wait for it to be deserved and then grant it, or is it given from the start? Is it the position we respect, or the person? Anywho, thoughts? |

that blind acceptance has decreased in the modern world with increasing cynisim generated by a mistrust of mass media and advertising.. unfortunately that same mass media has become infintely more effective at manipulating people leading us to buy wrinkle free suits, mcdonalds, and any cooking tool sold by george forman.
