I remember a day back when I used to frequent usenet, and there existed a large amount of attention grabbers who just wanted people to pay attention to the shiny things they were waving around and wanted to be King Of The Internet or something like that. Back then occasionally the sane people would waste their well-thought out responses on what became known in usenet lore as "trolls". After a while, noting the futility of trying to reason with these folk, they would start posting a simple phrase, sometimes accompanied with an ascii art sign or something equally inventive. The phrase was:

"DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS"

I think the television viewing public is due in for one of these.
