Contact lenses?
How often do you change the contact lenses you wear?
this applies to people who wear the same pair long term, not daily's. I wear acuvue 2's and I was told that each pair was supposed to last 2 weeks. A pair @ $35 for 6 pairs = $280 for the year on contacts. Not something I can afford, not to mention the hassle of having to keep checking in to your optometrist to get more. So I basically just wear the same pair for 3-4 months, replace when one gets super dirty, lost, or ruined somehow. At this rate I spend about < $100~ on contacts per year, which is manageable. Now I'm just wondering, are there any negative effects to using the same pair waay longer than the recommended time period? I clean them everyday, never wear them overnight, never use the same fluid 2 days in a row... ya just wondering :keebler:

i used to be super gross and almost never take mine out! when i had softies, they were the year-round ones, super crazy prescription styles.
yea.. i'm blind.  hence the glasses. i would wear my hards.. but they fucking hurt. and i don't think i could handle getting smashed with hard contacts in, at all. i want softies again!

jeez thats expensive.. i thought it was like $35 for a BOX.. which consists of 3 pairs
the contacts i use are this other brand my optomitrist recommended which are supposed to be clones of accuvue 2's.. each pair i can wear for a month and longer if you really take care of them

Hmm yea I wear Acuvue as well but I do change them after 2 weeks. My buddy does the same thing as you, won't change em for a couple months. There's gotta be a reason why they're "2 weeks contacts" and I don't think it's cuz the company just wants to make more $. I asked my eye doctor and he said that wearing contacts longer than supposed to WILL do damage to your outer layer eye or something. I remember when I had monthly's and I wore those for like a month and a half, but had to change them cuz my eyes would start getting veiny red and soo dried out.

i sometimes wear mine for over a month, but not usually. they tend to get really irritating and i can't wear them for long so i don't bother.
i pay $10 a month for my contacts. seriously, if you can go to costco.. do it. best prices for this stuff. i wear monthly ones and it's only $10 a month so i've never paid more than $120 for an entire year. i don't remember the exact brand mine are, but i've seen them at other eyeglass/contact places on sale two boxes for $90.. they have acuvue for cheap as well. :)

I have the craziest Green contacts.. lol everyone thinks they are my real eyes.. but neways...
I have slept in mine sooo many times.. like sumtimes 3 times in a row without even takin them out.. its brutal wakin up... like u cannot see! i hate it!!!! Ack!

i wear those i sleep with them in too, i wear them until they start to bug my eyes then i let them sit in salution over night and keep wearing them mine last at least 3 weeks.

i think i wear those freshlook color blends acuvue ones..i was told i could wear each pair for a month..so i do..thats about $240 a year..not that bad..

my contacts are 2 weeks disposable as well.. i change them on the 1st of each month, or whenever it irritates my eyes. i wear them for at least 12 hours each day as well. its a bad habit that i really should work on... too bad i look shit ass in glasses.
i get 6 pairs for 120 or something like that. im not accurate.

I go with the three month ones. IF i buy two pairs at once i save a bit so it comts me $100 for two pairs = 6 months.
........so therefore my yearly total is $200 flat, then i basically get that back with my benefits :) B//F

I get monthly contacts which cost about 80 for 6 pairs.
I can usually wear each pair for about 2 months. See here's the catch you can order the same contacts online. http://www.coastalcontacts.com/ After buying the boxes from the store you can buy them online at a way cheaper price, some places even pay for shipping. the reason why i buy them form the store first is so i get a proper fitting, and then order them cuz your contact prescription will always be less then your written prescription atteh eye exam. Make sure you record the prescription, bascurve and stuff off the boxes you'll need that when you order online. They recommend to not to over wear your contacts because over time they degrade, get scratched, warp out out of shape..etc They'll obviously feel uncomforable. You are also starving your eye of oxygen cuz the contact membrane get's protien build up. When you starve your eye of O2 they small timy arteries start to thicken over time...and that will cause a lot more problems. Oh and for you ppl who forget to take them out and sleep with them in..my friend once had her contact slip behind her eye ball from sleeping with it in. had to get an operation to get it out, prob had to vacumm it out...

I wear mine till they break when I'm cleaning them. Yeah they do get a little irritating when they get old. I think the longest I've ever made em stretch is 5 months. They're the one month ones. But I don't wear them every day though.
Oh yeah, I'm a little weird to. I only have one bad eye so I only have one contact that I wear ha ha, so I save 50% right off the bat anyways.
