WTF Liberals?!?!?! Selling our medical???

So I recieved this e-mail today from a friend. I found it a tad bit concerning. I'm just wondering since the article was posted on feb 25th if this is going forward and what are the reasons for this action. And if anyone knows more about this please fill me in since I haven't heard the full story and the info seems a bit one sided.

The e-mail read:
The following information was placed in an ad in Times Colonist (March 6, 2004) by the BCGEU. If you feel strongly about this issue, read further and then sign the petition. "The Gordon Campbell Liberals plan to sell off the Medical Services Plan and PharmaCare to either IBM or Maximus - both American multi-national corporations - by August 31. The government will give an American-owned corporation access to private records on every British Columbian. This includes health treatment, pharmacy, income tax, mental health and criminal records, as well as records from the ministries of Children and Family Development and Human Resources. A New York expert on the new USA Patriot Act says this could even give the FBI access to our private medical record. The Patriot Act allows the FBI to demand corporations secretly hand over medical records and other personal information of innocent people. And legal precedents suggest even if the information is held by a Canadian subsidiary, >he American parent company could be required to hand it over. Our personal medical information should not be made available to privatecorporations that don't answer to our privacy laws. It should remain in the care of public employees who are bound by an oath of office to keep it confidential.

yah there was a thing on tv today about that. ralph klein, a conservative was making a huge speech about canada coming together to stand up to the liberals and what not. It was a pretty good speech. Hopefully something gets done about this bullshit the liberals are trying to pull.

I know more about this!

It's called the BC GEU is using scare tactics again because their job security is being threatened.

I'd seriously like to think that most people have a clue about how flawed the MSP administration is. They're not selling medical, they're getting other people to take care of administration (processing forms, etc.) because under current conditions, it takes 90 days to get a form processed, which is absolutely unacceptable.

the BCGEU is just sending those emails because they know that all the janitors and food servers in their union our going to be replaced with non-union contract workers.

this plan is just a continition of this process of outsourcing, it is simple the administration of forms which is being contracted out on a contract basis instad of being done in house on a fee for service basis. which essential means they are gonna save alot of fuckin money by getting privat companies who specialize in administrial procedures to do the work for them. i think its a fuckin great idea. Most importantly citizens have nothing to worry about it it unless they do administration for health care because these changes will have absolutely no effect on you. these changes have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the provision of health insurence , and in fact they cannot legally institute private healthcare insurence as universal public insurence is mandated by federal law.

the liberals are not going to privatize healthcare first of all its sure fire political suicide and second of all its in contravention of the canadian health services act.

have you forgotten how fucked up the NDP were? if they get elected all we will see an immediate downturn in the economy just based on the speculation of what they will do. dont expect any economic growth as a result of the olympics, it will just be a big waste of money. any way the ndp is usually targets kids who posts on boards like this, because they dont know shit and they'll beleive anything that a bunch of career civil servants and union leaders say. finally ralph klien is just like Bush you'd be a fool to support him or many of his idea's, mother fucker is like attilia the hun relative to paul martin.

atleast they have MBa's and know how to look at a balance sheet.

they also have a fairly good understanding of how to manage and administer large projects with a semblance of equity and efficiency.

p.s if they were truly self interested theyd stay in the private sector where they could make a fuck load more money

I don't they are as qualified to run the province as "smoothly" as the NDP OR the Liberals...however, they seem to be more, how shall we say, "higher" in the spirits? :p
