Should fighting Be banned from hockey?
I was reading an article in the newspaper and a columnist wrote:
"If you can't appreciate the skating, stickhandling, passing, checking and goaltending, please take your bloodthirst and beer and retire to the alley. It's not as if there are enough of you self-proclaimed diehards who crave fighting to keep the sport thriving." I dont think that they should ban fighting from hockey at all it's apart of the game!

Back in the Roman days, people's bloodlust was settled by what was known as "Bread and Circuses". They gave the people booze and fighting.
Trying to remove either of those elements from Hockey is like telling professional wrestlers to play by the rules.

nothing wrong with 2 hockey players settling dispute in a one on one, face to face, fair match up...fighting in that context is part of the game and should be left alone, although gang fights, sucker punches, and cheap stabs are gay

I say if players have to dispute something on the ice, do it without gloves! If the refs won't do anything about some shit that goes down, let the players deal with it!:sh4n3:

I think they should drop a wrestling ring from the ceiling whenever someone has a dipsute and like.. the wrestling ring is made of ice too. and they have all the shit in there like a WWF no hold barred match... that would be sweet:) but errr ya, fighting is an essential part of hockey... is like taking the car accidents out of nascar and the.... uhhhh... scenery...? out of golf

this is so stupid. any person that has played hockey knows its its needed
its been there from the start so you cant just take it out so you guys would rather everyone setlle their differences with their sticks? thats when shit gets dangerous there is so much emotion in a hockey game. fighting keeps the cheapness down. if we take fighting out. we'll have a dirty europeon hockey game on our hands

I got an idea! How about this, I'll write an article about my opinions on basket ball and how they should ban slam dunks from the game. I mean if you can't appreciate the athleticism, dribbling, passing and shooting than you should just take your booze and blood lust to the closest alley... ACTUALLY come to think of it I really know very little about basket ball and even if I did for some fucked reason support the banning of dunking I would still keep my mouth shut about it. WHY? Because I don't know nearly enough about the game to make any comment on how it should be played.
Memo to the ignorant journalists that write these sort of articles; Get a fucking clue and try writing about something you know more about that the average dude knows about rocket science. Thanks, The Hockey Fans

without hitting then we just have a bunch of figure skaters with sticks and a puck
then the French judge would just start selling votes there would be mass riots countries would be over thrown a nuclear war would break out and would throw us into a nuclear Ice age and life as we know it would cease to exist

You try and take out fighting well its not gonna work, cause loads of players are gonna get made injured and shit
