Intense Security At Raves .??

I'm hearing a lot of gossip about how terrible the security was at Twisted 2004. Infact this isn't the first time everyone's got wild about security.
My question to promoters is why are you hiring these people? There's tons of options avaible.

I haven't raved in years ( well not true, I took a break at milkshake :) ) because the club scene got a lot better now that there's Vivid and Viva.
But honestly I can get away with so much more at clubs. I mean you're searched, but only for weapons. And they all let you smoke weed while you dance, so it's such a better environment.

Oh, I feel so righteous.

The reason they keep getting hired is because if they don't, they don't get a permit, and hence the party is illegal.

But whatever. I still say it's a load of hooey. Why is a license fucking required? It's just a stereo and a bunch of people dancing.

I'm not saying "Don't hire security" . I understand how it works. But there's many different security companies in vancouver, you can switch it up you know?

There's some deal between them and Plaza AFAIK. A promoter could set us straight.

I've seen Sensor, Tag and countless other security teams be just as big dicks as Genesis. I've also seen them not be so. Usually the "level of security" is determined by the promoter, and part of the permit process is that the team chosen needs to be at a certain level. As such, they have to be hardcore.

Just another happy advantage to the joy that is legal parties. *sigh*

thats what i say. i hate it how security will do random searches after they've already let em in. Just get it right in the beginning and stop ruining other peoples nights over suspision of drugs.

Security guards are one thing. My favorite were the cops at twisted. They were so chill. Upstairs near the entrance, you see one group of sketchy ravers sitting there, 5 cops relaxing, and another group of sketchy ravers on the other side. haha they were great. I kept bugging them for a picture and they finally took one with me.

Just be thankful i don't work security at small parties, cuz i'd search every one of you sketchy-looking-fucks :)
be thankful that security at smaller parties isn't more intense, that extremely light pat downs are kept up.
be thankful that they don't feel the need to grope your balls/cooch for drugs.

if you look sketchy, expect to get searched.
if you give a lot of attitude at a party, expect to get uber searched.
and so forth.

my chapstick got confiscated at twisted... i was like WTF... i got sooo pissed.. i dont spend $5+ on lip products so that some security friskerbitch can take it away from me... i hid mine behind the doors at plaza cuz i didnt wanna give up my brand new lip gloss. I mean common... i can see being frisked for drugs n weapons... but no where on flyers does it say "STRINGINT SEARCHES, ABSOLUTLY NO TOLLERANCE FOR COSMETICS"

I hate that. I need my lipgloss at parties. Well, I need my lipgloss at all times.
Sometimes security will search my bag and not look twice at the 4509283 things of gloss in there, but others they won't let me in with it. I never can tell how they'll react so I usually stick it in behind my belt. They don't seem to ever feel my waistline.

riverside security are the best ones. most of them enjoy the rave just as much as the people there and they dont care. not all of course but alot of them
