the johnny cash tribute art show
...it's tonight in toronto.
the curator just phoned me and let me know that my peice is going to be part of the centrepeice tonight. i've never ever ever ever been so flattered before. and he also phoned to confirm that the show is going to new york after it travels to montreal. best day ever. -s.

I went to the Johnny Cash exhibit when it was here in Vancouver. They said it would be doing a cross-country tour. I'm happy that you were going to see it, even more so that you're going to be exhibiting in it! Post your work, please!

stina, it was in alberta after van, it's in TO now...going to montreal and then new york and then i dunno where else but i think it comes back to van in late july. i could be wrong though.
i don't have a file small enough to post right now cuz i don't have photoshop on my computer here in van. but i do have a second working copy of the peice i submitted that i can try scanning in tomorrow at work at a smaller size. i worked from a photo of johnny cash and made a "color by numbers" version of him...it's just a black line drawing of him with little numbers in each space tellling you watch color to color in. at the bottom of the peice, there's a color swatch palette corresponding to each little number. and then i went and colored in only the guitar that johnny cash is holding. it's really really really simple and clean looking. i dunno...i don't think it's anything great...especially compared to some of the other stuff in the show. ie. the published portrait in Butter magazine. -s.
