Sky train violations

I was walking to braid station to meet up with a friend, but i got lost and walked all the way to lougheed. So i hoped on the skytrain to go back one stop. JUST one stop and i forgot to pay the dumb ticket.. didn't really think much of it, until this bitch rent a cop asked to see my ticket... errrrrrrr. she gave me a $46 dollar fine.. BITCH! should i pay it or no.. what would you do?

Thats harsh. But I highly doubt she's a bitch. She's just doing her job, and think of how many times they Skytrain people hear the "but its just one stop" excuse? Yeah.

dont pay it.
i get tickets all the time, public drinking, public urination, jaywalking, etc.
never payed a ticket in my life.

she gave you a ticket before you got on the train? i guess the platform is a fare paid only zone so if you were up there i can see her giving you at ticket.. but still. i thought she was checking tickets while you were ON the train.

i have a 2 zone pass and im supposed to scratch it to say zones 2/3 but i never do. they were checking tickets at king george one morning, and the lady stopped me because i didn't have the right zone card so i told her i would scratch it off right there.. and when i did there was nothing underneath. so first she thought i was trying to sneak on for three zones, and THEN she thought i had a fake pass. yeah like im going to make a fake bus pass. i had to wait while she called her supervisor and all that junk.

next Time just tell them you don't have an ID. they're not allowed to search you.

You know, the skytrain loses millions of dollars annually because of fare evasion...

I know it's just 'one stop', but public transit is a privilege, not a right. I don't care if you pay your fine or not, but it's silly to act like it was an injustice to get a ticket...you didn't pay!

So you have a drivers license? If you don't pay your skytrain ticket - they won't let you re-new your license when the time comes. Also, they can send you to collections. I would just pay the fine. I'm not sure if that small of an amount can make a mark on your record or anything, but why take the chance for $50. It sucks you got the ticket but you didn't pay and they were just doing thier job

public transit is a fuckin service, they're there to serve us, and we pay with our tax dollars, and ticket fares as it is, stupid fuckin rent a cops cant do shit.

yea thats exactly what id do and if she asks for id say u dont ahve it. its not like shes gonna call the cops and make them drag ur ass home and get some id so they know who to make the ticket out to. oh yea dont pay it

Sidenote: The Skytrain Cops (The guys in the Dark Blue... not the dumbasses in the Light Blue that stand around all the time.) are going to be given powers of Arrest and commisioned as Peace Officers in B.C. their jurisdiction will be only Transit... ie SkyTrain, Buses etc. But handy to know as I heard they are wanting to be armed as well.

but since you did: I say pay the fine. not paying the $46 gives them the right to hold it against you in the future situations. I don't know if they will, but they might. so don't risk it.

as of now, they won't be armed until deemed necessary. give em some years and it will probably come around.

on top of that, they're raising the fare violation fines from $46 to $150 i think. [i could be wrong on this, my dad just mentioned it to me quickly]

Yeh... I think I read something about the fines going up in the Paper as well. Good thing I've never got a Ticket. (I used to never pay for SkyTrain)
