I remember when I used to play YDKJ. They had a commercial for this product that would distract people whenever you farted so you didn't have to explain yourself. One of the things it said was "Hey look! It's Menudo!"

I nearly pissed myself laughing.

I remember seeing one of their music videos on pop-up video. I think it was post-Ricky Martin. Menudo was kind of like You Can't Do That On Television but lamer, a band and they didn't get slimed nearly enough. Oh, and it was hella ethnic.

I think the guy who organized them was aiming for a whole Jackson-5 style thing. But once you turned 13, you were kicked out of the band.
