Crystal Meth is affecting the gay community in a big way - there is currently a plan underway to help gay men better understand how crystal effects them, but we need your help.

Join other gay men in a focus group to talk about what’s going on in our community in regards to crystal meth. You are invited if you:

 are a gay guy of any age
 have used crystal meth in the last year
 spend time at any of the following: clubs, bars, afterhours
 are not working or volunteering with an HIV/AIDS organization
 have an 1 ½ hour to spare

yes honorarium means you get 20$ for going, only 1.5 hrs of talking about meth, the environment is cool, totally non-sketch. just a bunch of non-judegemental people from the organization Youthco who are interested in meth and it's effects on the community.
A couple of the organizers themselves are recreational meth users so it is not like they know nothing about it nor condemn it.

we are having some trouble finding participants so if anyone has any friends that are gay and use meth or have in the last year please tell them about this post!
20$ for 1.5 hrs, that averages out to 13$ an hour! all this for merely talking about meth and eating snacks!

yeah guys. dont poke fun at this shit. Lisa just gave me heed on another forum. all this affects at least one of every three on this forum & that's just a guesstimite. i sure as hell don't qualify for this, but i might know someone who does and most likely you out there do to.

meth is a huge problem in BC right now if you're gay or straight. this can help people get a possitive prespective in life & possibly get them out of their downward spiral.

I may be an idiot, but what does being gay have to do with using meth? Why do you have to be gay to go to this seminar? Are the majority of meth users gay or something? That doesn't make sense.

^^That's just the study that they're doing. If you're going to do a successful study of how something affects people, it's better to narrow your search field to make your study more effective. Same reason as they do studies only involving people age 18-25 or 30-40. I suppose they just want to look at the effects of meth on the gay community.

also, another reason this study is focused on gay men is because the foundation that provided funding only donates money to organizations that specifically focus on gay men.

which i think is wonderful, how often are queer people ignored by our society? why are their health concerns not studied and more information provided on specific risks?

i agree that there should be more studies, does anyone want to help fund-raise?
