I met Richard Simmons today.

I was working on the ramp at Canada place, telling people where to drop off for their cruise ships and it was super busy. The ramp into the terminal was backed up with a line that stretched up to Pender street.

I went up to a black SUV and asked the driver which ship he was dropping off for, and a man in the back seat asked me my name. And low and behold it was Richard Simmons!

He looks exactly the same in person as he does on TV. He wears a fair bit of make up, has fake eye lashes and is sooo tanned. After introducing himself he asked me my name, and told me how excited he was about going on the Carnival Spirit. He also asked me if I had been on it and told me how big and beautiful it was and said it was one of the biggest ships (which it isn't but I couldnt burst his bubble cause he seemed soo happy). I think he was there to lead a work out class cause he told me how he was going to help everyone on this ship to get fit.

It made my day heh, the guy just gives off happiness... even if it is flaming over the top happiness.

Poor happy guy is always the butt of so many jokes... oh well, I can't see someone that happy ever getting too upset.

I met Sal Piro. He's like a less fit version of Richard Simmons, and makes a lot more innuendo. Delightfully Gay New Yorker though. We used to channel his spirit for our Rocky Horror preshows.

wow, thats so crazy! I'm honestly not too sure how I'd react if I met him. He used to scare the crap out of me when I was little. odd that he wears fake eyelashes & makeup, hmmm.
