Pissed with Telus? Check this out & save 30%

I did some research on alternate providers of telephone and internet services currently available in our area.

The winner on price and value?

Dowco DSL coupled with Primus VOIP. See the comparison here : http://www.wickedhouseparty.org/rad/phoneplans.pdf

Comes to 70% of the cost of Telus's 1000 minutes after five plan with unlimited anytime long distance anywhere in North America, anytime, and you end up with a static IP too.

I found it interesting and I know a lot of people are pissed with Telus so I figured I'd post it

EDIT: And the rules have changed, you can have DSL service without a phone line, you just have to pay an extra fee on top of your DSL if you dont retain a phone line, I think it's like 8-10 bucks

^do you really want to support an American megacompany with WORSE customer service than Telus (I didn't know that was possible!!)

I dealt with Primus for a month - THEY SUCK. Their connection was horrible, all of my long distance calls ended up either getting cut off or not getting through at all! Thank god I found super cheap phone cards or I would have had to deal with their crummy service for even longer.

My friend recently switched to the Primus VOIP package, and he has found it to be fantastic

Plus- Primus is an Australian company with operations worldwide

^^ Yeah dude... I was telling Master Soda yesterday, I tried calling Boomtown yesterday and it said number not in service? What the shit? I would call and rip a strip of Telus saying this is a Business line and if your phones are down you loose money, etc... That way, maybe you will get a months service free!

I've found the Corporate DSL package to be fairly good, with the exception of not letting you know when their system will be forcing you to renew your external DHCP address, which when you are running a proxy server can be a bit of a nightmare (hours... spent... thinking... something... wrong... with... server)

The VOIP is a neat one, I priced out the above with caller ID, voicemail, second number, I really like the idea of saving money over a 100 minute @ 5 cents per minute package and having unlimited long distance anytime in north america

I have had no problems with Telus DSL since I signed up a few years ago.

If you have any idea of my bandwidth usage and the fact nothing has ever been said (knock on wood) you would agree.
