Writers and Journalists wanted for our new site!!!...

Hey guys and girls,

I chose this as the first place to introduce our new site and as the first place to look for journalists.

As a frequenter of this site and especially this section of the forum I have become quite familiar with a lot of the users and have gotten to know quite a few of you personally. So, naturally, because this is a site based on people's nightlives I figured who better to ask first then those people who I've gotten to know through and around this site which has to do (in a big way) with people's nightlives.

So here it is... www.edrink.net

Doesn't look like much for NOW but we have big plans in the works! :)

What we are looking for is people (girls or guys) from Vancouver or anywhere else that have excellent writing skills and something to write about with relevance to our site.

We don't want articles that ramble on about how "this bar sucks...this bar is good...this bar is good". Opinionated writing is great but there has to be some style to it. Some wit that either makes the reader laugh (in a classy way) or think about something they have never thought before.

We are looking for people that will write on all sorts of different topics. Music, bars, clubs, clothes, fashion and other types of cool new gear, drinks, sex, celebrities, rants (as long as they are related to the site) etc. Want to do a column on music great. Bars? Great! Sex? Great! The underground party scene in Vancouver? Wicked! Something that's on your mind (besides sex :p) that you want to share with/show the world. Awesome. Just make it witty and mature or informative. Your style and character should shine through the writing!

Requirements, more about the site and other things such as benefits for writers can be found on the site.

For more information please visit www.edrink.net and read the application info at www.edrink.net/journalistapplication.pdf

So in short, what you have to do is simply think of something to write about (something witty, funny, on your mind keeping in mind that there should be some relevance to the site), write it and email it to [email protected] ASAP.

We are looking to have all journalist application positions filled by June 15th!!! Please send me an example of your writing by then because the site is then ready for launch!

For any questions or inquiries feel free to contact me @ [email protected]

I hope to hear from you and read your articles soon!

Thanks for your time guys!

~Sean G and Greg H

ps. I'd like to hear some opinions on this site, the idea etc. Feel free to post them below or PM me!

is this limited to those in the Vancouver area only ?
(I'm interested, but I reside in Calgary..... )

I'm currently studying Broadcast News (journalism with on-camera training)

and money would be nice too.

Money will be offered later. When depends on how the site does with advertising. Money will be paid to those people that write on a consistant basis for us and especially those people that have been with us since the begining.

We are not going to pay mediocore writers. :p

As far as payment goes until we start generating revenue, members of our edrink staff will get free stuff that advertisers/ companies send in to review. Clothes, music, etc. It all really depends on how the site does and who were advertising for/ spornsored by. Because if we get sponsored by molson for example as part of the deal we all get free alchoal and we would get to test out their new products. Etc.

The bottom line is that because we are starting from scratch we can not offer you anything to begin with. Connections and money will be made so it really is the bigger we get the more you will get out of it. We expect it to get big but because we really have no idea how big this will get, no promises are being made with regards to payment.

We have lots of connections @ clubs and bars so one of the main benefits of this site will be VIP or guestlist @ clubs. Bar tabs will be provided for you especially since we are going to be sending people out to do bar reviews and such.

Thats pretty much it. I wish we could offer payment and we really do believe that we will get to the stage where we can offer our writes payment but we can't offer much to start with.

Thanks for the questions guys!

~Sean

Definitely sounds interesting!

I just finished a diploma in Media and Communications so it's right down my alley. I'll try to come up with some new ideas or things to write about. But of course I'll get those articles to you asap.

Okay...so we had a lot of enquiries from people on this board, and a lot of interest but only one person submitted an article.

Our deadline is fast apporaching and we could use some more writers! :D
