We looked all over for the mother duck, but we couldn't find her. He wasn't even near a pond or anything, there was just the road and then a 15 foot drop onto some rocks. At first he wasn't eating so I called the wildlife refuge and asked what I should do and what he needs to eat to be healthy. I was going to take him there if he wouldn't eat because I was worried I wouldn't be able to care for him properly becuase he is a wild duck. But he is eating the duck pellets that I grind up for him and I take him outside and hide it in the grass so he has to hunt for it. He is soooo much work though, he wakes up every morning at 5AM and I have to get up, feed him and let him go poop in the little pool we set up for him. Then I have to make sure he is all dry and take him into bed with me and let him sleep there with me on my arm for another hour or two. And I can't go ANYWHERE without him, he thinks I am his mom so he follows me around and cries when I leave. I feel horrible leaving him to go to work.
