I used to date a vegan. I made it a whole 24 hours vegan-style :) After I left her apartment I couldnt remember what was safe to eat at work so I think I ate... i dont remember what it was now... was it twizzlers? are they vegan friendly? It was a couple years back.. i dont remember. but i just sat there surviving off of those that I could make it the whole 24 hours.

Cooking for her was a bitch...

Why vegan?

I love you very much but.............

Vegans should be shot. What's the fun in being alive if you can't eat honey or ice cream or cheese!?!

Anyway Miss Nina, make sure you don't get sick ok.

oh rhianna, there's a lot of reasons. I still eat honey, I'm not THAT strict. And besides, there's such a thing as soy ice cream that tastes great. Vegan cheese is horrible, but I don't mind living without cheese....I wouldn't dare Criticize someone who eats meat, but I know there are a lot of vegetarians/vegans who do, and that gives vegans a bad rep.....so don't take it out on me please....

haha, yeah, I think that's the weirdest part about being vegan/vegetarian......is that you can't eat candy... and I have a wicked sweet tooth. So I spend a lot of time making vegan cookies and eating dark chocolate!

How long have you been vegan? 4 years puls veggy for 3 before that.

Do you find it difficult eating out? nope (if you live in vancouver) go to foundations.. its a vegan food place on 7th and main... really cute little reatro emo joint.. GOOOOOOD food (try the hummus)

Do you find it difficult preparing foods for yourself? Nope, I LOVE to cook, I love to cook for others as well... i have like 10 vegan cook books but the best is "Garden of the Vegan and How it All Vegan (reatro grils on the cover) best book ever..

Buying non edible items (ei is there such a thing as vegan glue?) Um... well sometimes its really had.. i try not to use glue... but sometimes i have to.. i don't know if there is any vegan glue.. thats been on my mind lately.. buying soap and shampoo is all really easy .. I have all that stuff vegan. clothing is preatty easy is they have lables. I have to use film tho... I don't like how digi cams turn out.. and film has Geliten in it. but.. most of the time its easy

Do you take any suppliments to help out? yeah, B12, Sprilina, Silica, Odos Oil, Femm Omaga, and Meca (not all of its for being vegan tho basicly the Sprilina and B12.

What kinds of suppliments? Do you have weight problems (gaining weight or losing weight?)? a bit I use to be like 130 (and that was like back in grade 7/8... then i started out vegan/veggy,then i developed an eating disorder i dropped down to 87lbs. for a year.. then i was up to 113, and i've been that for quite a few years now...

How long to you plan on being vegan? forever. its a life style... I don't plan on going back. ever.... I have a nutritionest. (Sp?)... who helpes me with everhing (hes vegan 2) and when I have my own family i hope they can be vegan. as well...

Not only for animals.. but because meat and milk and eggs now are so full of crappy fake hormones.. they can really wreck your body.. and i don't want my baby girl to start her pieriod when she 8... or my baby boy not be be able to have kids because of all this shit in animals.

(no animal house)...besides. i'm the cook. if you don't like it go hungry ;P

Our carnal instincts and physical makeup, therefore, are not the be-all and end-all when it comes to ANYTHING. Each person has different morals, tastes, likes and dislikes, and as long as they aren't doing significant damage to anyone or anything else, we are entitled to them.

now back to the topic at hand
I've been a lacto-vegetarian for 7 years, and I've never had any health problems due to my vegetarian diet. Technically, I don't eat eggs, but occassionally I will eat items (such as cakes, etc) that have egg in them.

If you're already having a problem with iron and/or protein as a vegetarian, I would NOT suggest going vegan. If you are having health issues, there are probably some serious holes in your diet that need filling. My suggestions:

Eat tofu. Lots of tofu.
Fried tofu. Tofu in spaghetti sauce.
Mango tofu. Tofu pudding.
Soy milk. Tofu smoothies.
Take iron supplements.
Broccoli = heaven.
Avocado = better than heaven.
the fact that most of you have developed anemia is natures way of telling you your doing something wrong with your diet, if it was back in the day you would all be dead from it. meat is the only reason humans are still around.being a vegetarian is just as unatural as not being one in many peoples books. most vegetarians annoy me cause there just doing it to stand out they dont really care about the reasoning true vegetarians make the choice for. But if your legit and stick with all the power to you but give it a rest with the vegetarian power trip.

you do realize meat-eaters get anemia too, right? yes, it probably means she's lacking something in her diet. but last I checked, meat does not provide all the nutrients that we need to survive. anybody who doesn't plan their diet accordingly (meat-eating or not) can be susceptible to not get all the proper nutrients that they need.

but that's the thing though, we don't. people who can plan a vegetarian diet well can be just as healthy if not healthier than most meat-eaters.

its alot more then just honey

(no wool, no beeswax) you have to reed everything in shoes, and clothing, and food.

But its a choice you make. its not fair to push veganisum on anyone because it is an extrem. I'll admit that.

But you can be healthy if you do it carefully and right.

i disagree, if an omnivor planned out there diet they would no doubt be healthier then a herbavoir. and like i said the proof is in the health of most of the vegatarians on this board.

you can't use this single sample of vegetarians on this board to generalize most vegetarians' lifestyle and health. and it sure as hell is not PROOF of anything.

a lot of people may not know how to plan a proper vegetarian diet, especially when they first start out, which is why they may lack a lot of the proper nutrients that they need (in which case, it's not really the diet's fault, but the dieter's). technically, if you plan it properly and all the proper nutrients are there, what would make a vegetarian diet less healthy? what would a vegatarian be missing that a meat-eater wouldn't?

Yeah, it can be difficult when looking for running shoes. Though, I'm pretty adept at avoiding other products, even suppliments can be made from animal products.
