Random people who make eye contact and smile on the street

Since coming back to Vancouver i've noticed it a lot more: no one makes eye contact, smiles, or says a simple 'hello', walking by eachother on the street.
It's got something to do with 'big city mentality'. I never realized how much i missed it until today walking back from the bank, a random chick smiled, made eye contact, said hello.
just like that.
it was genuine. it was refreshing. it made me feel good.

I always smile or say hello to people when I walk by them, and i absolutely hate it when they don't do it back. SO rude.

I'll admit I tend to avoid the old dirty men as well.

I always at least give a smile and a nod to people I am passing on the street. Most people also get a "Hello" or a "Good evening" unless they look ubber sketchy.

thats one of the reasons i like langley...cause that always happens....especially down in the nature trail or downtown area...

other than that, it's cool. i smile at people on the street when i'm in an okay or good mood. i find a lot of old ladies like to smile at me too.. heh

I walk around like I am ripped on mushrooms with this big grin on my face and boy does it work wonders walking down the street and you happen to make eye contact with a hawt female.

happens alot here, and if YOU want it to be done, than maybe you should try doing to other people too... i've just started to say hi to people when i'm walking. it makes me feel happy inside. especially when saying it to old people

lol that's just because everyone is related there! j/k Small Towns are nice like that. Being from small places like that I usually smile or nod to people on the Street if I'm in a good mood.

walking down davie st. with jovi the other weekend i decided to start saying hi and giving random people names aswell during our walk, " hi bob! how ya been!" "wassup dave, how are the kids?" the last part really confused the guy cuz i think he was gay.

I totally know what you mean. I grew up in Vancouver for 16 years and then moved to a small town on Vancouver Island. And the people in this town were so friendly and polite I thought they were all on crack. They smiled at you and said hello. It was crazy. But living there for a few years it grows on you. So now when I go back to Vancouver I notice myself smiling and saying hello to people and they all think I am on crack. Giving you weird looks and stuff. I find it kind of amusing. But still love good old Vancouver.
