What happens when you miss the Runway?

Well on Sunday, someone got an answer to that question... a small airplane from my Airport had to make a forces approach into Mud Bay. Both Passengers survived, but the poor plane got pranged up quite nicely. I saw the Chopper pick it up and drop it off at the Airport yesterday. The Transportation Safety Board is investigating the incident. My guess is human error. Not that many of you are interested, but hey, it's a big thing to us Flying folks. The only funny part is, the owner of the Plane was in Hong Kong when it happened. It was being flown by an Instructor with tons of hours doing an instructional flight. Just goes to show, check, check and double check everything you do. No matter how good you are you can still get fucked up.

No... but it's the sad fact that I'm here over 50 hours a week. I can't wait until Vacation.

I'm interested - I love hearing about the wild and crazy life of an airport employee. The women, sex, drugs and aviator sunglasses....contant fear of terrorist threats...Mapleleaf, you should make your life into a movie one day.

lol A movie... 't would be different indeed. Then there's all my extra curricular activities I've done... from setting myself on Fire to jumping out of Trees, blowing up shit...

I care. I talk alot about my work expierences too. Usualy it's funny shit. alot of wierd things happen when I work. and it seems when Erik works too.

Sure - this topic is of interest to some. If people can have threads about sex, drugs, etc - why not airplanes?

Was that crashed plane an RV (type of kit or homebuilt airplane)? Think I caught a second of that on the news.

It was an RV-6 I think... it was a sweet one with a Snowbirds Paint-job. On a separate and more amusing note. About an hour after I made this thread, the P-51 Mustang that is staying there hit a Seagull whilst doing a 317 mph fly-by. The Tower sent me out to find the body. Nothing... not a single feather or piece of meat. I talked to the Pilot and there was a feather and some blood on the Prop. No damage to the aircraft. So we think that Seagull + WW2 Fighter with 1300 cubic inch Supercharged V-12 + Prop spinning prolly around 3300 RPM + 317 mph = vaporized Seagull

Then yesterday, a Beech Staggerwing landed when his Landing Gear didn't come down. Fuck man... two crashes in 4 days?!?! Who's Corn Flakes did I piss in? Are you sure you people want to get in a Car with me when Planes fall from the Sky around me?

lol it's still the 3rd one I've seen Crash. 2 in Arlington, Washington and this one.
