Well... it's true! I have never been.

The only place I have been 2 all-night dance parties are: Riverside,,, Plaza,,, and The Colesium. and if you want 2 count the spanish? Also a few outdoor venues around Chilliwak.


I've payed the price for being very ignorant and stubborn during my teen years...

Never did I give electronic muzic a chance. I was only interested in Rap muzic. Therefore,,, I missed all the good 'ol dayz...

SO... I can honestly say that I've never been 2 a good party,,, or an actual 'rave'...


I am jelous of you all,,, az I have heard many stories about the O.G. parties/raves.

Guess I'll know the true meaning when I move 2 Ibiza next year:219:

They party promoters in Ibiza a facing many of the same issues that Vancouver is... just on a much larger,,, more enriched scale.

Ibiza is big, it's flashy, it's expensive, it's high class, it's cool, it's popular

It's everything raves are not.

Do you seriously think that multi million dollar clubs are going to have raves?

They may run all night, they may play electronic music.
But those aren't raves.

Raves by defenition are not big and flashy. Cool, popular people don't know about them.

You would not be able to find the "rave scene" in ibiza by reading some links from a big web page.

That's like shopping for opium on the net.

Okay, here's a history of where raves came from, as I understand it (after reading parts of a few different books about the history of rave culture)

It started in the mid 80s or so, when house music was born. House music got it's name from the club it was pioneered in, the Warehouse, in Chicago. It was basically a gay black club. Now I know that techno and garage were the other two forms of 'rave' music as we know it now from that era, but I'm not sure if they sprouted out of house music, of if they kind of just formed along side it. But nevertheless, Garage started in New York, and techno in Detroit. (big suprise, eh? :D) The rave scene grew a bit in the states over a few years, and then in 1988 or 89 (I think) house music was brought over to the UK, where it became acid house and exploded. I think I read an article about the birth of massives somewhere else on F+K, and I think that's what all this pretty much leads up to. It exploded in the UK, then came back to northAm and exploded here too.

That's the history of it, as far as I understand.

As far as Ibiza goes, I think it has always been known as a party island, even before the days of the rave scene. It didn't make the scene, the scene made IT what it is today.
