Thats too cool....I thank my dad for sitting me down with him when I was a young boy and watching Hockey Night in canada...it turned me into the hockey nut I am today. The cool thing is that they have kept the theme music...all these years!

Yes after the Canucks went to the finals in 94....half of the following season was canceled due to a lockout then.

I did not like that at all....I was young...I remember my dad was very choked! Well so was I

I am highly doubtful there will be a season based on the fact of this salary cap crap thats not gonna be accepted by the NHLPA.

Its simply too late to ask for an easy way out. I.E the NHL is trying to take the easy way out by asking for a salary cap but they fucked themselves up themselves. The owners of the NHL i mean.

The NHL Players Associating is never going to accept a salary cap. Its been said how many times, I think we will have a season but i think th eir may be a lockout till about January in which case ya the players will either play in the resurected WHA#2 or they will play in Europe.

Alot of players have already signed with Modo in the Swedish Elite League. *naslund, forsberg, thorton even*

Here's the problem....in Canada Hockey(NHL) is the most watched sport, in the States....they prefer Baseball, Basketball and Football over hockey, not a lot of sold out games in the states during the regular season. In Vancouver last season every game was a sell out(i think). Most of the NHL teams are based in the states, and the teams just don't make the cash the other major sports do.

Thankfully we have a great WHL team here in Kelowna, so to make up for the lack of NHL, I'll be makin it to quite a few games.

True rockets are a good team, but so are the giants with brule, courchain.

good reasoning on how hockey has been losing money since the late 90's like 96 on

one thing is it used to be run by a canadian john a ziegler, also the nhlpa was headed by alan eagleson also canadian though a fraud and criminal.

now its run by bettman who i don't th ink is nearly as bad as goodnow the NHLPA GUY!!

just look at the guy does he ever smile. he's like a rock who just doesn't want to move. he doesnt' want to lose simple as that. its sad that hockey has come down to that

I Have a big response to this as what you have stated really isn't the problem at all. True it is part of it but a minor part. I don't have time to go into detail right now but I will write a more detailed response when I have more than 1 minute.

Well your right....I'll add though.

Hockey players want to able to have huge contracts like the ones in Baseball, Basketball....however as I stated the market isn't big enough to allow this. Right now I believe as a whole in the NHL around 35% of revenues are paid out in player salaries. Basically businesses cannot survive paying that kind of money.


so in the end....I believe it boils down to the greed....I look forward to your opinion.
