HELP!! Graphics card problem....

I have an ATI 128mb 9200 graphics card in my comp and lately all of my games have been freezing up after about 5 min or 10 min in. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the graphics card not being configured properly or something.

Admittedly I don't know much about it so I'm asking for help. I did my virus scan and the such and that doesn't seem to be the problem.... all I know for sure is that it pisses the holy hell out of me.... GRRR...... all work and no gaming makes Shawn a dull boy.....

Check if the little fan(s) on the video card or the ones for the case and CPU are spinning properly. The computer could be over heating and causeing it to lock up.

Another thing is to check Ati's website to see if a newer version of the driver is available for download too.

I did the driver check and the fan seems to be fine on the card.... thanks for the info though. I'm sure I'll figure it out soon enough but its a pain in the ass thats for sure.

Have you overclocked your card? Have you downloaded the latest ATI Catalyst driver 4.8? Have you changed any of the advanced features of your card, i.e. Antiliasing and so forth? Try resetting the advanced features back to default.

crackdragon will become famous soon enough
check your refresh frequency (I have had this do some screwy things to my com a couple of times)... and/or try playing the games at a lower resolution and see if it locks up as fast. I have an ATI card as well and it does pretty much the same thing, but over a longer period of time. The only way I have really been able to fix this prob is lowering the resolution and play with some of the other the display settings.

I had a similar problem when I first got my 9600 pro, everything worked out once I updated the drivers, I'd say start there.
