Cell phone provider question

Begrudgingly I finally have to get one of these infernal contraptions, and I was wondering what provider people would suggest going with. Good/ bad experiences?

I'm with Telus, only because they apparently have (had?) the best coverage. It's a work cellphone, so it has to work no matter where I am. It doesn't bug me that much - though I'd much rather have a cooler phone, with more features, for cheaper. If they'd let me take my number and go with Bell, I probably would.

TelASS: Best coverage, worst packages and plans

Bell: Haven't used them yet

Roger: Good phones and plans, flexible Canada wide coverage. Reception isn't bad and I believe it is handset dependent.

Fido: Sucks ass anywhere except downtown

If number portibility wre available I'd go buy an unlocked GSM Treo 650 and link up with Rogers. TelASS and Bell are going the way of the dinosaur in terms of worldwide compatibility and that is why they are wanting to grab Fido to get this under their umbrella IMO.

rogers rips you off... but i guess they all do sooner or later. i hate cell phones. such bullshit.. i am just very mad right now about mine that is all. i have an old piece of crap phone thats broken etc. and ive had it for a year and a bit. I ask them if i can get some sort of deal or up grade and they tell me i have to wait another year or it will cost me 120 plus the cost of the phone! and plus my phone bills are wayyyy to expensive so im fed up! i turned it off and locked it in my trunk!:d haha stupid phone!

Not so much as landlines. The GF and I have a landline, but only because Telus won't sell us ADSL service without one... TEH LAME. Our answering machine gets on average about three telemarketer calls per day - our machine answers the phone "Hello, you've reached Drew and Erin... if you haven't sent an email or instant message first, WE WON'T ANSWER THIS PHONE. If you're a commercial caller, please remove this number from all of your databases. Thanks! <beep>."

I wish we only had the two cellphones. The extra $30/month to have the landline is just stupid. Work pays for the DSL connection, but we have to pay for the phoneline that we never use.
