How can people even start to compare Bin Ladden and Hittler? While Bin Ladden is responsible for mass murder he's not even close to being responsible for attempted genocide. Lets not forget that Bin Ladden was Americans go to guy in Afghanistan for many years and that the whole Al Queda network was built with CIA dollars. What the Americans are being victimized by now the Russians suffered through first.

Genocide is defined as the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group.

Bin Laden and his pals in Al Qaeda and other sympathetic organizations, no matter how 'justified' their actions may seem to some are attempting genocide EVERY time they attack/kill people. Why? Because they've waged war on Americans specifically (and the Western World as a whole), Jews, Christians, etc. etc. Attacks are carefully planned, and the message is very very clear every time they release a statement that they are out to get these specific groups.

Yeaaaah, I'd call it genocide.

As it is, I don't think some people are giving Dubya enough credit. He's an evil fucker as well as being stupid. However the real credit has to go to the people behind the scenes (Karl Rove, Paul Wolfowitz)... these are the people controlling George's puppet strings.

Like all terrorists Bin Ladden uses violence to try and intimidate people into doing as he wishes. He's a terrorist and nothing more. While the attacks on 9/11 were spectacular and shocked the whole world that was the point not maximum casualties. If he just wanted to kill people he could have set off a bomb at a high school football game with out 1/100 of the effort or planning that went into highjacking jumbo jets.

Come on if you want to start putting Bin Ladden in the same class as Hitler than a definite case could be made for Bush being right there as well.

However, the intentions of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda are clear. They have declared a holy war on the united states and have stated very clearly, and I quote " in which it declared the duty of every Muslim to kill Americans, civilian or military, wherever possible. "

The whole point though is that terrorists don't manipulate people or governments just through violence. They use phycological tactics as well, in this case his stated goals are just that. Also he makes this clear with the targets he chooses. With the level of planning and sophistication involved with the attacks on 9/11 he could have killed a lot more people but preferred to attack symbols of American power instead. As an example he could have killed more people truck bombing a high school football game, or for that matter multiple games at the same time. There would be zero security and a few thousand people at each game so with a similar amount of planning it would be reasonable to expect casualties upwards of 10,000. Also if he just wanted to kill more people why not wait till mid day when the twin towers were full of people?

My point is that Bin Ladden is trying to make a political statement and does not have the means to commit genocide. He has among other things called for the U.S. to end it's proxy war with Palestine and withdraw it's forces from Iraq and Afghanistan. I'm not trying to say that what he's doing is right or that he's not a horrible person for the committing such terrible crimes just that he's not responsible for committing genocide.
