Why is it that people keep saying we rely on the states?

What fucking industry does the states have that we don't already have a perfectly good self-sustinence [sic?] for ourselves? I can't think of anything in my house that was made in the states.... most of it comes from Taiwan and China....

We have more Oil than them. We get plenty of cars from Japan. We supply the southern half of their country with water.... All they really provide for us is tourists and media, from my count.

Just BECAUSE of the fact that there's less of us... WE HAVE MORE RESOURCES.

Who relies on whom?

haha with Dan Akroyd's connections, the election is pretty much decided. we'll put the majority of our troops in the northwest territories - with 30% manning yukon from surprise attacks. a group of highly trained men will run down the west coast to ultimately take over ahhhhnold in california. from what i've seen of him in movies he's pretty much unstoppable so it will take a collective effort of sheer heart and determination to bring him down. once we have california the troops in iraq might get word so we'll only have a few days to take over the rest of the country. but with canadas core intelligence and news that Bush will be in prison for 14 years i think its achievable. who's gunna tell the troops what to do?? they will be running around clueless for fucks sakes!

While this would definitely increase a lawyers profile I doubt they would really get many more cases from it.

For real though the point of this is obviously to protest Bush being in Canada. It's served to spark many discusions here and I'm sure many places around the world about his conduct. Also if you look at statements from the White House in regards to accusations of this kind you can put together a clear picture that they know what they are doing is illegal. The newly appointed head of Homeland security came to be well known for his memo calling the Geneva Conventions antiquated. The Red Cross, Amenesty International, and other groups have all been pointing out that the prisoners at Guantomo are being tortured by default. Confinement in and of it's self is a form of torture and these people are being held with out the right to a lawyer or a judge and without being charged. Now we know that in addition they are being systimatically tourtured to extract information.

Does any one here really get that the US government has just crossed a line from being a decent country to being a country that endorses tourture and shuns human rights. They are walking into very dangerous territory for themselves and the rest of the world.

As for Canada needing the US, in many ways we do but I guarentee at the end of the day if we turn off the electricity, stop sending the wood, and oil they would be a lot worse off. We would be able to divert electricty out to the eastern provinces, our wood, and oil could be sent to China and the EU.

as much as I don't like Bush, I think it would be REALLY bad for us in the end... Canada has more than enough resources to be self-sufficient... but seriously, we have no means to protect it, and the fact is that if we pissed off the US to that degree we would be annexed for our resources in days, if not hours...

Reuters in Germany is reporting that Donald Rumsfeld, George Tenant and eight other unnamed US officials will be charge with war crimes in connection with the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal. The charges are being filed by the Center for Constitutional Rights.

"German law in this area is leading the world," Peter Weiss, vice president of the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR), a human rights group, was quoted as saying in Frankfurter Rundschau newspaper's Tuesday edition.

German law allows for individuals charged with war crimes to be investigated whereever they may be living.

Evidently the complaint is over 100 pages, and the Frankfuter Rundschau will be reporting on it in its Tuesday edition. More info should be available shortly.

I really doubt that this actually happened...... Infact Im positive it didnt happen because ive ONLY seen people talking about this on FNK.
