each chapter is a piece he writes on one of the seven deadly sins.

i just finished reading Greed (about gambling), and Lust (Swinger relationships).

the other chapters are:

Sloth: pot smoking
Envy: rich people
Pride: gay pride
Wrath: gun control
Gluttony: pro-fat conferences

it's cool to read a book that praises sin, or at least, looks into WHY people view these as sins and makes his own counter arguments. he's a smart guy, and really funny as well.

if you ever read his Savage Love column in The Georgia Straight, then you'll probably like this, too.

i got it for a christmas present.

yeah, i really like how he writes totally non-bullshit about everything. he's not afraid to hide what he thinks at all, which is rad.

i also just found out by reading this that he's gay and has a boyfriend and an adopted son. all this time reading Savage Love and i thought he was straight. makes more sense now, though.

Really? I read that column and was like "hmmm... someone plays for the opposite team apparently..." there was just they way he commented about different things that I slowly figured it out. I do like the way he's just lays it out and tells it how it is; no matter how fucked up it might be.

i had suspected he was gay, but sometimes the references are so ambiguous that i had to question myself.

Well he did mention his boyfriend in the column now and then, and I think did mention his orientation outright once.

But he was also being a bit goofy with what he was saying (maybe) so I wasn't 100% sure either.

PPPS- he IS gay. and states it numerous times in his columns usually.

he writes it and then a whole bunch of papers buy the rights to run the column. i don't know the original paper it runs in.

yeah, but most of the time he writes things in such a jokey-i'm-not-sure-if-he's-kidding-or-not way...he's so sarcastic (which i love) that it was hard for me to determine when he was being serious about his orientation and when he was just making a sarcastic comment.
