So you don't want to die on the Roads...

So you're being a twit and driving along on the way Downtown tonight and you find yourself starting to slide what do you do? Well to alleviate this situation I bring to you mapleleaf4ever's Guide to Living.

i. DO NOT SLAM ON THE BREAKS! This is real bad as it will aggravate your slide even more and causes more harm than good.

ii. Keep your wheels pointed in the direction you want to go! Doing this, eventually the sideward motion will catch and pull you straight.

iii. Use gentle Throttle inputs! If you feather the throttle lightly you can use the power to straighten you out.

iv. LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO! Do not look anywhere else, keep focussed on the direction you want to go. If you look at the Telephone Pole, you will hit it.



Hope these tips help! Remember kiddies, I've learned the hard way and the easy way. Be careful out there, leave a bigger distance and go the speed limit for once. Better to arrive fashionably late than never at all.

Only pull the E-Brake around corners if you know what you're doing! There's been so many young kids in the ditch this year in Kelowna because they decided to goof off in their parent's car without knowing what they're doing. Seen a lot of silly adults in there too.

It can be done, if you know what you are doing and you "know" the car that you are in.

The master of winter driving should know that if your vehicle is equiped with ABS, it is VERY bad to pump the brakes.

That does suck, for sure! I feel for you, no doubt.

However, when you think about it, was there anything that you could have done about it... like NOT get into the vehicle?

I did the E-Brake pull, it was fun! And the front end alignment only cost $50 after I hit the curb.

Another thing, if you notice you are drifting around on the road because of ice, but you still think you're in control, you're almost out of control, so slow down! I rolled a VW Beetle this way, lucky I just ended up in a snowy corn field, with a couple of dents.
