the new non-smoking lotus

..the end of a dirty little era has come to an end. just as there is no sex in the champagne room there is now no smoking in the lotus. none, nada, zip. there MAY be an enclosed smoking room built in the future, but don't hold your breath (HA!). however, there are easy ins and outs, and tons of covered awnings along the block so smoking outside is a breeze (HA!). we would ask that you respect the fact that people do live upstairs, so if you could keep it down outside that'd be ace.

personally i'm kind of glad to see this happen, it just got too out of hand whenever we had a big show, and was even pretty bad just on a normal night. the lotus has pretty crap circulation anyway, especially in the winter when the air is cold. the staff has been pretty good at enforcing it so far, but it'll take a while for everyone to figure it out. everyone that i've asked to butt out has invariably been polite about it. i know there's a few people who had almost given up on going to our shows because of this, so rejoice, because now you can give me all of your money.

see, problem with that is, you get people to show now that their is no smoking, but there's some people who will leave because they can't smoke inside anymore. It's a non win situation! But I see what you mean.

that was one of the main reasons I didn't like going to The Lotus... it felt like being trapped in a dungeonesque little pit of smoke and cigarette littered flooring

As a non-smoker, of course this is a good thing especially given the extrememly poor ventilation. Let's just hope that those smokers that go outside now to smoke, keep the noise level to a minimum or the club will have complaints which is never a good thing.

I've been a non-smoker since September, so i'm glad about this change. Sometimes at places with indoor smoking and everyone is chain smoking, it becomes hard to breath. My lungs are already pretty bad, the whole reason i quit smoking.
