So I'm wondering if any of you have any suggestions for a nice, booze based gift!

you can never go wrong with cointreau, bailey's, kahloa, or gran marnier...

but if you really want to shake things up with some unusual suggestions

1)cinzano orancio: i'm hooked on this stuff. "This original fruity drink is a perfect sun-kissed aperitif and is best served chilled, either straight or with soda water. A delicate infusion of orange peel, selected herbs and spices and a hint of vanilla, it is also the perfect light after-meal drink." i also find that 1 part gin/2 parts orancio topped with soda and half an orange peel twisted plus ome fresh squeezed oj=AWESOME, it's like a mouthful of liquid sunshine. it's only 15% alcohol, and only $12.25 a 26 at the liquor store, in with he vermouth.

2)godiva chocolate liquer, white or dark. this stuff OWNS a chocolate martini, $30 a 26 at the ldb

3)materdomini limoncello: great lemon liquer from italy, intesnse flavour, great in a martini, $30 a 26

4)materdomini liquor di fragola: intense wild strawberry liquor (with some real ones floating in) from italy, pricy at $30 for 500 ml, but worth it for someone special.

5)MAKE YOUR OWN!: http://www.enquirer.com/editions/200...em_tem1ab.html

1) "Goats do Roam" by Fairview, South Africa...big and bold, lots of fruit and some pepper, $15.50 at the ldb.

2)Reserve Barrel Selection 1999-Merlot by Valdivieso, wonderful merlot, lots of flavouer, good finish $15.99

3)Wolf Blass Eaglehawk Shiraz- nice, not too bold for a shiraz, $12.99, hard to find, but the green label at $18.99 is worth it too.

4)Carmen reserve '99-'00 Cabernet Sauvignon..remeber quite liking this one at last years winefestival, but it was late in the tasting, wo i can't remeber why :) $20.95

5)Rosa Regale Banfi: $31.95 and worth every penny. extremely hard to find in the liquor stores, try the cambie and 41st main branch. Sparkling "framboise" from italy, sweet with tons of rasberry, and at only 6% alcohol you can drink a bottle to yourself and not feel it too bad. in fact, if you find this one don't give it away, keep it for yourself. simply one of the most amazing things i've ver tasted, and one of the only wines i've ever tasted besides port that would go well with chocolate. seve chilled, but not too cold.

best deal in scotch right now...the Glenlivet 12 year old, only $41.95 at the ldb, a 12 yr old scotch for under $50 is a steal, and the glenlivet is a good one too!

have to get my dryer fixed, apparently you don't schedule a service time, you have to be up between 8:30-9:00 and they call and schedule that day. he just called (10 after 9) and said he'd be in 11:00-1:00 or sometime in the afternoon.....BASTARDS!

brazilian sugar cane brandy...clear. sopmewhere between a brandy and a rum really.

to make a caipiranha you take a short glass, put in about a teaspoon of brown sugar and 1/2 a juicy lime cut into 1/2" chunks and mash the shit out of it with a muddler or a wooden spoon, then you add a shot or two of the cachaca and mix, then you add ice cubes and stir....sip.....mmmmmmmmmmm
