exactly. though there's a certain fashion style that goes along with the music. the emotional part is pretty optional. there's a lot of "emo" people that aren't sad and depressed.

As with many things, the music itself isn't bad. It's the stereotypical culture that gets associated with it that gets the bad rep.

i go to art school. so you can imagine how many emo kids i go to school with. i don't mind them at all. some of my best friends are considered emo...well they say they're all about hardcore but still...

fuck...even i sometimes dress "emo".

Agreed. It's like hiphop. There's a certain lifestyle,fashion and mentality that is associated with it. It's just a genre of music. If you don't like it then don't listen to it. Stop bitching about it.

When some of my favorite bands started releasing albums that were more "technical" and went in that direction, I surely thought it ruined a lot of it for me.

Also, I used to regularly go to shows. I stopped going when everyone showed up looking like spock.
