I'd be more than happy to help out and lend a hand.
Its not that thought its the fact that now Older kids encourage the usage of drugs hence pressuring their younger friends with them to do the same, as where before the older people who were in the scene didn't think anything of lets get her high etc..

but on to the topic great idea. I'm all for it. Sounds like alot of people on here are giving you their support.

I remember when Dance safe was around here.. umm.... 3-4 years ago? And the news tore them appart, in the way they tested the drugs, information, ect....

Don't let them do that to you.

Mad wikkid savage RAD.

As I read this this morning, I feel overwhelmed by the fact that THREE huge rave communities are coming together amoungst themselves to educate the younger/or less knowlegdable party kids in the scene. It's an awesome thing, and as much as the media may try and tear us apart, they can't kill abunch of love. They can't tear us down if all we are trying to do is make our enviornments more safe. With good intentions only, things will eventually work out.

I am not sure yet what I will need, but I am so glad to hear that you all believe in this cause too. <3 R.4.E.P. <3

I want this to work as much as you do, but we have to be careful not to get too excited just yet. I was part of the last dancesafe team and we were completely picked apart by both the local media and authorities. We were determined to fight it but were pretty much stopped at every front. I don't know if Adrienne was still a part of it when we got shut down last time too.

Either way, just be prepared for a huge fight from local authorities once this gets going. I'm sure it will work on a similar level as it did last time. We'll get the support from promoters and such but security at venues will try to bring it back down, police will give hassle, media will make up half-truth's about what we do.

That being said I'm totally down for the fight... we lost last time but I figure with enough determination we may be able to win it out this time. After all, if the city of Vancouver is supportive of a 'treatment' plan that gives heroin users free heroin then how can they come down on a group that seeks nothing more than to educate and keep safe the youth involved in our scene.

My 2cents. :)

Ashley, I think this would be an awesome thing if we could make it work. I think it would be important though to start it within the legal parties. There will be resistance from the city and i don't think underground parties need that attention, especially in the summer/spring seasons, the cops tend to come down on us at that time. Not that it shouldn't be in the underground, it should definatly just not until it's accepted within the legal scene.
You might want to look into the 'Island kids' an organization we have on vancouver island that is much like 'dance safe; their web site is http://www.islandkidz.org, it is an awesome site with great info.

best of luck, let me know how I can help

Would it be bad or would it help if you've never really done drugs?

I'm thinking different perspectives is good. But won't people look at it like, "You haven't done shit, don't try to talk to me about it."

Either way, I think there are many different ways to help the cause.

... I think I kinda answered my own question.

Thank you for the advice shanon and you make some very important points. I completely agree in terms of keeping them out of illegal parties for now. This is not as much of an issue to think about here in seattle because of the fact that there aren't many illegal raves thrown period. However, you are also right in saying that it would draw much uneeded attention to those events, and cause more trouble than it would be worth to have them there. Perhaps once we have a base, we will be able to build on it, and move into that relm of parties as well. Thanks again girl. Mad lov. <3 A
