That'll teach Gas Attendants to jump in front of Cars trying to take off with $12.35 in Gas. I'm sure there is a policy in place about Gas&Runs and trying to stop them with your Body is not in the policy. It is quite tragic that a human life was ended by an idiot in a stolen car over more than an hours wages for the Gas Jockey.

yeah but i have worked at that gas station before about 3 years ago and the policy dealing with gas and runs is that it comes out of the attendands pocket if they get a drive off. One of my good friends was friends with him in fact the kid tryed to pick him up after it happined but all they ended up doing is smoking a joint.

i'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, but that's how i feel, and how i reacted when i heard about this.

the station had a policy that this guy violated because he was being a MINIMUM WAGE HERO. it's unfortunate but these policies exist for a reason, and that's to protect employees. what exactly would he be able to do? last time i checked man vs car is not a fair fight.

**it's sad that this guy died, but damn, how stupid can you be? things to consider: how could this kid even pump the gas this late? don't they have prepay? how could this guy even get out of his station that fast? it's called a license plate. let the cops do their job. (yes i know the car was stolen)

In Maple Ridge pre pay isnt at all the gas stations yet and most gas station you dont have to pay before you pump. Out here we havent had a big problem with gas and runs. So they havent had to impliment the pay before you gas yet. But I like not having to pay before you gas but I guess this will change.

This same thing happened in one of the US southern states.
Except it was a hate crime, and the unfortunate victime of the modern day lynching was dragged around for hours.
It sent shivers up my spine.

To think that we live in a place where some people have such disregard for human life...

I saw that too on t.v in law class. But ya when i read about this i was just like struck as to the similaraties minus the hate part.

anything to do with dragging a body is barbaric. Very senseless.

Grant (the kid who was killed)... was fired from where I work, and taken off the grounds in the back seat of a cop car in handcuffs. The kid is a trouble maker (dosen't mean he deserved a horrible death, or death at all).
He hung around with the wrong crowd, and pretty much was the wrong crowd.

I think there's somethimg bigger behind this story. We'll see what comes up in court.

Lol.. but that doesn't fit with the angle people are playing up (senseless tragedy, etc etc) so the journalists haven't bothered to dig up that part of the story. Instead all I heard about the victim was that he was a "good guy" who was "just trying to get ahead".

Which makes things a lot more simple doesn't it.

Oh well.. they do call them black and whites, don't they?

it is the angle they take it. cause the kid that was driving i have smoked doobs with him a couple of occasions and he wasnt that bad of a kid he did have his proplems but dont we all.

Kinda reminds me of the story of that woman who had a guy stuck in her windshield for like a day in her garage, how she was in such a panic that she left him there overnight bc she was drunk.

That's another thing that bugs me though. To just say "He was brutally killed for $12" isn't really accurate. It's makes good copy though.

What most likely happened is the kids were going to steal the gas, this guy made a bad decision, the kids made a REALLY bad decision, and then completely panicked and dragged him around town.

As macabre a thought as this is.. has it occurred to anyone that maybe the kids didn't stop, not because they didn't care... but because they couldn't bear to actually stop and look at what was hanging off their car? That would be a hard goddamned thing to face up to.. instead they kept driving until they could distance themselves from the reality of what they'd done. Which turned out to take 7.5 kms +

The way the papers keep throwing out "killed for $12", it's like the two kids went up to some guy, said "Give us all your money", he said "But I only got $12", they said "give it!!", he said "no.", and they shot him.

I don't know about you guys, but this whole thing makes me absoulutely sick to my stomach! To think a guy just working his regular shift, a little older than me...screaming for the car to stop, while his face and chest are dissintigrating....fuck that's enough....the kid must die...no if ands or butS! This kid will be a carreer criminal...end it now...

yes my first post in the thread was a sarcastic joke, and i stand by it.

back to teh story, i very much agree with grapes, it is a shitty story no doubt about it. unrelated: i heard a guy at work say somethin like "they were only busted cause a friend ratted on him, real buddies dont rat on their friends" i sighed in disgust afterwards.
