This isn't the first time this exact thing has happened. Some guy in europe did the same thing (http://www.krohm.net/bernd.htm), and time is almost up to see if he actually follows through.

So it seems like the worst fear has been realized, and copycats have popped up. Personally, I'd worry more about the guy in the states, where Animal Cruelty laws and the whole litigatorial bent might eat him alive.
