"brave new world" by aldous huxley (veery interesting)
"iliad" by homer (in the process of reading it right now! it's a long epic, but if you have the time, it's great)
"summer girls" by judy blume (kinda girly, but I liked it)
"lord of the flies" forgot who the author was.. but it's a really good book if you haven't read it already"

when in doubt, some of shakespeare's plays like hamlet are always good....

those are the only ones I can name off the top of my head.
I'll come back with some more later.

i liked the illiad, read it a few years back. kind of dry to me. it was sorta like caesars conquest of gaul, except that one wasn't as fun.

actually i've never read any shakespeare, i managed to bypass his works in highshcool. i have no idea how i managed that.

what the fuck???¿ do you work at a library? if i need anything?? oh i need buddy...anything by bernard cornwell would be appreciated, oh and a hard cover of george rr martins a storm of swords, and just a regular copy of game of thrones, by martin as well.

yeah i'm not really into poetry, so i'm kind of glad that you didn't recommend any. i prefer historical, historical fiction, fantasy, and a touch (only a touch mind you) of sci fi.

did you read the fagles version of the Iliad? my prof told me that apparently, it's a much better translation than others...

ha... shakespeare used to be torture for me.. there were only certain works of his that I was able to stand, hamlet and taming of the shrew being a couple of them. mcbeth and romeo and juliet were just big yawners to me... :P but that's just me. for other people who can really comprehend his works and the underlying meaning of it, most of his works I'd have to say are really amazing.
I personally find his poetry was much more interesting.

another book I should add to my list is joy luck club by amy tan. being asian, I find a lot of her works are very easy to relate to. don't just watch the movie, read the book!

you have to read to at least HALF of book 1 for it to get exciting. 2 pages till get you nothing! when you get to book 6, the fighting scenes are absolutely grueling... I was laughing while reading it.

but it is hard to understand if you don't recognize the greek mythological names..I had enough trouble pronouncing the fucking names when I first started reading it! but it really is a good book when you get into it...

and no bob.. I'm not a moron..

hmmm...here are my reccomendations:

lolita, by nabokov
the sirens of titan, by kurt vonnegut jr.
slaughterhouse-5, by kurt vonnegut jr.
the age of reason, by jean-paul sartre
republic, by plato
the marriage of heaven and hell, by william blake
on the road, by jack kerouac
and...

anything you can find by kafka (the short stories are excellent...my favourites are "the judgement" and "in the penal colony.")

i have no idea what version it was. it was a few years back, and i didn't even know that there were different versions.

i've heard that shakespeare didn't even write any of the books that ppl read. some dude named francis bacon did. in his will shakespeare even spelt his name wrong. lol (sorry heidi) what an idiot eh¿

i think i'll watch the movie first. is it anything like the breakfast club?

Xanth Series - Piers Anthony
Adapt Series - " "
Immortality Series - " "
Callaghan Series - Spider Robinson or some psedo name he also has.
Damia Series - Anne MacAffry?
Acorna Series - same as above, I think

Reading Between The Lies - Lynn Peters

All Books by Amy Tan ( I like the Grandma who goes back to China)
a book about 2 dogs escaping an animal lab, trying to find a home. One is spotted with a small hole in his head, one big, and hairy. Can't remember the title or author. Anyone know? It's published by Penguin

Right now, I'm trying to get through Insomnia :P - Stephen King and almost finished Paradise Fever - P. Tompkins
