Your body treats a piercing like it does a sliver, so yeah rejection can be inevitable.

Just be careful, I left mine in way too long when it was clearly rejecting and now I've got a gnarly scar on my left eyebrow. It totally sucked, I would blink and I could feel it pushing itself out. Totally icky.

I don't think many places initially pierce with a barbell seeing as how keeping it clean right now is so very important and it's not so easy to do with a smaller babrbell, most places will do it if you pierce with a longer one and downsize after 6-8 weeks.

No beer after you get your tongue pierced. Unless you want a yeast infection in your mouth! ICK! Only hard alcohol. Fermented alcohols are not OK bc you kill off so much of the good bacteria in your mouth with all the rinsing youre doing to keep away the bad bacteria. And don't forget to eat yogurt every 3 days (even if you hate it) or so to keep that good bacteria growing - or else your tongue gets a yellowish layer on it.
