D-Link Wireless Networks..

Does anyone else use this bullshit ? Holy **** what a piece of garbage. Every single time i'm using the internet, it connects, disconnects, connects, disconnects.. throws me on/off msn.. song d/ls stop go stop go. sometimes i just can't handle it and avoid using the computer. It's brand new too..

Oh joy, disconnects again so I have to wait to post this.

I'm gunna call tech support and see if there's anything i can do, I doubt it.

get linksys.
dlink is utter and total shit, don't ever buy any of their networking gear.
linksys is now owned and operated by cisco so most of their stuff is decent (which isn't to say it's flawless, remember, this is consumer level crap)

Linksys routers are fine but their wireless cards suck ass.

I run Linksys Wireless G routers and D-Link cards. I've tried them all and this combo I get the best reception.

on several occasions, ive found that the problems that i was having were not to be blamed on faulty or malfunctioning hardware/software, rather, the configuration of the product.

what im tryin to say is : youre prolly doin somethin wrong

yeah, maybe. i set it up over the phone with a tech agent to make sure i wasn't gunna do anything wrong.. although, it was a girl and (no offence) girl tech agents just don't seem to quite know what they are doing.. i used to work as a tech agent and the girls in my group just didn't seem to have a clue. reading a big list of instructions vs. gettin a feel for whats actually needed and just goin off memory..

that was just initial setup, i'll call again maybe there's some configurin i can do

return it and get a linksys wrt54g (http://www.linksys.com/products/prod...id=35&prid=601)

not only does its stock settings work great, but there's a hacked firmware you can download which will boost the signal strength by 75%. ive read stories of some people being able to receive a signal from even a block away. ive got almost full signal from my basement, and my router is on the third floor

Yeh make sure you have your router configured the right way, sometimes these routers let you adjust the freq, also it could be cuz your getting shitty reception due to the placement of the router and the shit surrounding your computer.

I have the wrt54g too and it works great on both wired and wireless connections. It's almost invisible to hackers who want to snoop too. They have an updated version that's supposed to be faster on the wireless.
