torrent/azureus downloading help, please

okay, so i have the azureus program and i'm trying to download mixes off themixingbowl.org.

when i download a torrent it appears in my azureus downloads section, but none of them ever connect or beging downloading. am i doing something wrong? or do all the mixes i have picked to download just not have anyone to download from at the moment?

help out a technologically idiotic fnker :(

ps. it says my port is blacklisted or something...?

i'm too stupid to figure it out!

i tried to change my port on the azureus program thing, but it still says port error. i checked the port using the 'configure wizard' in azureus and it said it was okay, so i dunno.

i've tried it with several different port numbers. i don't even know what a port is! the only port i know is where boats go and that wine!

Azureus is just fine..... chances are the deafult port that Azureus picked for you is being blocked. The standard ports are being blocked quite often now because they are the ones that are most frequently tracked by the RIAA in the US.

Go to tools, options, connection and change your listening port to something other than what is listed. I'm not sure why but a few sites I have seen recommend using the 40 000 digits. Mine is set at 49153 and it seems to work just fine. I'm downloading a torrent as we speak.

That will most likely change.... it takes time for you to connect to peers. The whole system is based on sharing so the more you share the more your DL ratio will be. It also depends on how many seeders and leechers there are for that particular torrent.

Pretty much every torrent starts out slow until you have a bit done. Then your side starts uploading and your DL speed picks up. You'll get the hang of it pretty quickly I'm sure :)
