Benefits of Exercise

I've been doing some research for psychology and came across some interesting research done by UCLA researchers... two of many research topics that struck my attention was that exercise promotes neuroplastisity and axonal regeneration.

The promotion of neuroplasticity can be a huge benefit to the ravers in particular. lol If you've done a lot of drugs and feel pretty heavy headed due to your past/present habbits, doing some aerobic activity regularly will help whats remaining of your brain perform tasks the damaged sections cannot efficiently perform anymore.

Axonal regeneration will benefit anyone... basically the nervous cells around your body will communicate more efficeintly with each other having more connections.

Thought that was pretty cool =)

good to know :)

i just started jogging a little over a month ago. i feel good :)

i've also noticed that even if i'm feeling sad before i go jogging, afterward i feel happy and good again. i guess that's the release of adrenalin? mmmmm natural drugs.

you can also look up psycinfo on the library website for journals. that would be interesting to know about as well... the effect of exercise on mood and emotion.

last year when i jogged i felt really good afterwards and super hungry. now after my workouts i feel really sad, and not hungry. its not in a bad way though, its like the exercise releases what i should be releasing normally but am too ashamed to do so. and the not being hungry thing, i just make sure i get some good carbs in and protein before i head over to the lake. its like really cheap thearapy.
i love my cardio-core boot camp. and i cant wait till the lakes warm up enough to start swimming across\around them.
got any jogging tips?
-always stretch before and after (or at least after) as to prevent muscle soreness (doms = delayed onset muscle soreness)
-warm up, helps to prevent injuries & fatigue, gradually increases body temp & HR
-cool down, prevents venous pooling, cools body temp & slows HR
-dont over train
-wear comfortable shoes :)
-F.I.T.T principle (frequency,intensity, time, type)
-S.A.I.D principle (specific adaption to imposed demand

i always find myself craving carbs after exercise, i try not to eat fattening foods either, so i will eat fruit & veggies, whole grain breads, protein(chicken or fish)

add me on msn twistedangel_x@hotmail if you like, i have taken my fitness theory, strengh training & personal training courses, so i have a bit of info if you ever need it

when you get craps while running* just slow your pace to a walk or light jog untill the craps pass
i know theres another wayt o get rid of them but i cant remeber it now
