Mayweather vs Gatti: This Saturday. Who's gonna watch it. I AM

Gatti vs Mayweather.

For the WBC Super Lightweight Championship *or junior welterweight*

anywho

their respective records

Arturo 'thunder' Gatti is 39 wins and 6 losses with 30 wins by KO

While Floyd 'pretty boy' Mayweather is an perfect 33 wins and 0 losses with 22 wins by KO

Oh yea and Gatti is originally from montreal so he is canadian though in atlanta they make it sound like he was born there or something.

I've seen the ad on TV for this. I have no idea who either of these guys are, however I know the Light-feather weights have fists of fury, and the matches start with a boom! It looks good, but I can't decide who will win, thunder, lightening...it's gonna be war!

mayweather is quite possibly the least recognized fighter of his callibre.
He is one of the greatest boxers, under appreciated athletes. I think gatti is going down without question.

Well said sungoo. Anyone who can make Diego Corrales look like a punk is on some next level shit. I fully agree with your assesment of his talent, although Gatti has worked so hard on refining himself as a fighter that I think he just may give Mayweather a bit more trouble than he's expecting.

didn't watch the fight but I saw the highlights.
trying to find a torrent or link to the fight, anybody knows a link, it'd be much appreciated.

I knew Mayweather was going to win, Gatti is a decent fighter but Mayweather is just too god. I thought Gatti would've showed a better outing then he did. Maybe Mayweather was right, Gatti is just a club boxer. I was the one that voted TKO for mayweather, although, the only reason I chose that one was because I didn't think Gatti would've been knocked out for a full 10 count. The thing is that, had the fight not been called off in the 6th, it very could have. Some of those blows Mayweather landed were just crushing, especially those multi blows to the head/body with no reply. It looked like Mayweather broke through Gatti's defense with ease, even when Gatti would duck and weave, Mayweather knew where his head was going. Man, I feel bad for Gatti, he just got torn up and he looked pretty shitty on the after fight press conference.

Atleast the upside to this whole thing is that Mayweather will get better exposure, and he'll get better fights with better opponents. Or not, but we'll have to see. He looked pretty crisp from what I saw but I wonder how long his prime will last. It's too bad we didn't see more of Mayweather earlier on.

I only caught the first three rounds of the fight before heading to work. But right from the get go Gatti looked like he was in trouble. Albeit that knockdown in the first is pretty questionable, mostly the referee's fault but some blame on Gatti for not keeping his hands up and questioning the referee. Gatti took blow after blow, Mayweather was just crisper and on top of his game.

I enjoyed the undercard quite a bit, I thought Chavez Jr. fought a great fight, HELL HE LOOKS LIKE HE'S TWELVE. What was even better about that fight was the commentary on not letting Chavez Sr. drink anymore at the fights. Jr. will definitely be one to watch in the coming years, especially if he has half the heart that his father had.

The other WBA title fight was mildly entertaining, mainly because a guy named Vivian got cold cocked by a virtual unknown. Terrible fighting style by the ugly lanky whitey, but he caught Vicious Vivian with pretty clean shot to the chin, and that mother fucker was still on the canvas at ten.

I like this comment. Mayweather basically looked omnipotent against Gatti =)

As a fight fan and boxing afficianado, you had to appreciate what was happening in this fight. All Floyd did was cash with his ass every cheque his mouth had written. We've seen Gatti beaten before, but never has he been so thouroughly dominated. Apart from a couple of body shots, I don't think he landed a clean punch all night. Meanwhile Mayweather could land at will.

This is the end of the road for Arturuo.. for Floyd.. sungoo I don't know why you say:

Dude is 28 years old. He's got 5 years of prime ability in front of him still. The real question right now is:

Who the fuck would want to fight him???

^ His dominance reminds me of Roy Jones in his prime, or Mike Tyson in his prime (although the latter obviously had a different kind of dominance.

yeah my bad, my thing is that, I feel like people who've been boxing for a long time get broken down, and although he's 28, he had something like 90+ amateur bouts before turning pro. But unlike a lot of other boxers, he doesn't get beat up nearly as bad so I guess that will make his boxing career last longer.

Also, I think he'd need to fight people in higher weight classes to get a better challenge.

There are alot of boxer, good boxers with like 200 amateur fights under their belt.

I figured it would be either an easy unanimous 12-0 rounds for mayweather.

or stopped on cuts in the 8th.

was close stopped in the 6th on a very severely swollen eye. If gatti did fight more he might have seriously been hurt as in like roy jones ala tarver, or joe mesi with jirov. though mesi did win that fight.

Alot of people did but in reality he had little to n o chance to win other than a one punch knockout.

Gatti made the mistake of trying to land that one punch, he got hit literally by almost every shot mayweather punched his way.

I wanna see Ricky Hatton vs Mayweather JR next
