iPod/iTunes question

does anyone know how to get songs off your ipod and onto your computer? i know itunes doesn't allow you to transfer songs from the ipod to itunes because of copyright issues, but my friend told me that he heard there was a way you can do this.

i have a bunch of songs on my ipod from someone else's itunes on their computer and want to put them on my computer as well.

The IPOD works as an external drive when attached to your computer. So just open the drive once it appears after attaching, drag and drop songs onto your computer, then load the songs into Itunes.

maybe i'm having a shitload of friends over for a BBQ so depends on how everyone is feeling later.

I'll most likely end up there drunk as a skunk.

Once you connect your ipod to your computer, you'll notice that an icon appears in the left hand corner of Itunes that looks like a little ipod.

Click on this button.
In the menu following, you will find a list of options. Make sure enable disk use is checked off and choose 'manually update songs and playlists'.

From now on, your ipod won't automatically update all the songs in that library and when you click on your ipod in itunes, the songs won't be greyed out. You'll be able to drag and drop songs in and out of the library as you please.

ONLY thing is, you have to manually eject the device on the windows toolbar to get the ipod to stop saying do not disconnect and to avoid losing/corrupting data.

That should help =)

there's actual programs you can use to get the songs off. just going into the directory won't work so well what with the naming of files and such.

anyways, there's a small program i have that i can try sending to you if you like. i used to get all my songs off, and it worked good. just find me on msn if you want it.
