*Every* programmer at Google is required to spend 1 whole day a week working on a personal project of interest. This is why they are constantly comming up with innovative solutions.. many of these personal projects turn into big projects if they have enough potential.

Now think about this. If a public map like google can use satelites to zoom in that closely think about how well the government can see you. They can look right into your house if they wanted to. I don't think this Google Earth is such a great idea.

We don't have to think about how well the Government can see us. It's common knowledge the the American and some European Governments have Satellite Recconaissance Assets that can easily read License Plates on Vehicles. Have done so since the 70's. Wether they're going to be looking into your Houses... no, probably not unless you're hiding Nuclear Weapons or something important. They're not that interested in you sitting there in your Underwear on your Computer.

This application has been around forever, under a different name, Keyhole. Google bought it and improved it

Why not? At least this is open to the public, as oppossed to being used to spy on us.

I really doubt that the government cares enough about me to justify those kinds of resources monetarily.
