Wireless question...

I am trying to increase the range in which the hub can send the signal and I was wondering if anyone has tried the larger antennas. Do they work? are they worth the $70 or so dollars that they seem to go for?

Higher Wavelength Antennas do work better. I haven't done it with 802.11 but I'm an Amateur Radio Operator and the bigger the antenna, the better the signal. Same for 802.11 heh or there's always the other rule... MORE POWER!

only place I have seen them thus far is future shop, and they are about $70 or so

get a folgers coffee can and punch a hole through it and put the antenna in it where the hole is. It will create a cheap and easy direct antenna. Or you can just order the actual mmcx pigtail and some other components. A friend of mine used an old rca 24 inch satallite dish and a can with the antenna connector pointing towards the dish. We went up sumas mountain and pointed it down to the city and saw netstumbler just fill up with dozens and dozens of access points.

Signal problem solved... apparently simply moving the antenna so that it touches my monitor cable doubles the signal I am recieving. Nice cheap easy fix lol
