registering for school

I realize this isn't actually fun or anything, but I'm so old that when I used to register we used to have to do that shit on the telephone. First off, you were lucky just to finally get through - usually at 6am, and then you had to sit there for 2 hours or so picking courses one by one, then finding out that half of them are full and frantically try to work shit out. Now, you can tell which sections are already full in the first place, it works out any conflicts for you, and then you just press a button.... WOW, SO MUCH EASIER.

Thank you technoligy - *hugs*

I don't think I'm THAT old (20) but I still remember that telephone registering system @ sfu. It only changed like, a year ago as SFU was pretty behind in that sort of thing.

I hated how they would DISCONNECT you if you took too long to register. Then you'd have to press redial until you finally got through again after your 10th time trying.

I remember my first year when I registered for courses at UBC, they were using online registration system (i couldn't decide between SFU or UBC so I registered for courses @ both) while SFU still had the telephone registration system. I remember thinking that SFU's system was the stupidest ever and regretting my decison to stick to SFU.

It was brutalll.

that's sucks... there wont be a hell of a lot left by then, especially if you need to take any first year courses. Fortunately for me I'm technically in 3rd year (again) so I got to register earlier.

and as for you crookedqueen, I don't believe I'm much older than you so suck it!

hehe sometimes yes, but then there are those mornings when I wake up a half hour before class and can still make it to class on time. Those days I thank goodness that I live right at the foot of burnaby mountain. Literally, one bus stop away from school...

do you live with your parents though? If so, then definitely a sound financial decision.

I'm pretty sure the down-side to the new way is still way better than the up-side of the old way.
