According to Mr. Andrew the pharmacy tech, it's fine to take meds after they've expired because they just lose their effectiveness over time...EXCEPT for TETRACYCLIN - apparently it does turn into poison after its expiry date!

Most medications have a life span of 6 months to a year (depending on the med). I do believe if you follow the instructions and take it before the stamped expiry date on the box/container, it should be fine.

Side effects of something that expired in 2003 : You may experience > Warm and fuzzy feelings, possible stomach pains, skin crawliness, feverish, possible nausea & projectile vomiting, and uncontrollable diarrhea.
