Any pool players here?

I mean real pool players with a passion for the game - not just weekend, i'm-drunk-at-a-bar-so-lets-play-some-pool people... people with an understanding of the game beyond "sink ball in pocket." People who would recognize the names Effren Reyes, Earl Strickland, or Jennette Lee...

I used to play hardcore several years ago (at least 4 hours a day, every day) and have been itching to get back into it for the last little while and I'm sick of playing against people that think that I "take it too seriously."

Anyone game for some sessions at the commodore lanes or something?

People who think scratches should be played from the line, that pulling balls from the pockets is an acceptable rule, that don't understand what "ball in hand" or what a "table scratch" is, or think that 9-ball is a game of luck need not apply.

I don't watch pool, so I don't know those names, but I used to play 5hrs a day... havn't been playing at all lately. no one ever wants to play, and the pool halls in my area suck.

I play vegas rules for 8 ball, but prefer playing straight pool

dude...that Jeanette Lee is hot!!....I watch pool on TSN occasionally...never took the game to a competitive level tho....

straight pool is hella fun - ever play one pocket? Not really my style, but it's a ridiculously hard game to play well and easily one of the most strategic games out there.

I still like 9-ball as my game of choice, but straight pool is a very close second. Not a big fan of 8-ball tho...

no... never have... ever played poker pool?

you get a hand of cards, and have to sink your cards. fun to play if their's a group...

8 ball is good for warm up... never really been a huge 9 ball fan, always preffered straight pool.

Anyways, wouldn't mind getting back into it.

Used to be really into it. Started out in 8-Ball as everyone does then quickly fell in love with snooker and played it all the time. But i havnt touch any of these games in like 5 years. Everyone i knew grew out of the chillin at pool hall phase and i slowly fell away from the game as well. But still everytime see the game on tv whether its snooker, 8-ball, or 9-ball im glued to it. Too bad i dont have time or id take you up on playing some games. Hate playing with noobies. Not exactly people who arnt good just people who really lack the knowledge and all the other things you mentioned.

^ hah! I've so amazingly out of practice at this point, that i'd get slaughtered in those tourneys... I used to enter them a bunch of years ago and even then I wasn't nearly in enough in stroke to compete - i doubt i would even make it past the first round now when i haven't been playing seriously for like 4 or 5 years...

but maybe i'll take u up one day ;)

no real time for me now until my project crunch time ends, but just seeing if there were people interested :)

3 cushion, no-pocket billiards is one of the hardest games ever - is there anywhere in town that actually has a real billiards table?
