Recording sets live @ clubs in Vancouver

So, i'm wondering why this isn't done in Vancouver? And why can't promoters and djs come to some kind of contract where the promoters can sell CD copies of the set and give the dj/producer a cut.

It happens all the time at shows in the UK, (Best of british, etc) I mean how hard is it to that up?

I understand there's probably a ton of red tape, but there's so many sets i've heard in Vancouver that i'd love to hear again and a million sets I missed and would have paid money for a copy of the mix.

Anyone know why this is NEVER done here?

I think etn.fm did some recording and live video for a riverside party when Markus Schulz and M.I.K.E. were here. I would like to see it happening more often.

Well I see dudes with professional video cameras walking around all these shows, but never see any videos. I mean how hard would it be to set up a laptop or external cd burner.. I mean really..

Like for instance the Pendulum show, there was a guy walking around with a very pro looking video camera, but no video ever posted, sold, shown, etc. I'd love to see that video and would probably pay to get a copy..

there are harsh rules against that, you need to go through the agency usually and the answer is often no.

Theres a video on www.djvibe.com from pendulum. Although its pretty weak and its more of a commercial for shark energy drink than a video of the show...

About the general topic... I have nothing to back this up, but i think agents would be more willing to have cd's cut live from shows at bigger events (like in the uk) because its more of a mutual promotion. It looks better for a DJ to have a "live @ creamfields" set sold than a "live @ some club in canada".

Also, being that big DJ's drop alot of new tracks that have yet to be rinsed (hopefully...), they probably dont want audio getting around that might ruin the "holy shit" factor at their next dates on the tours.

Yeah you have a point.. but the other point is that the DJ gets a cut of profits. I mean hell the promoters are shacking them up nice hotels, paying for all their expenses, really what else to they want. They're geting paid to promote their own music.

See, I fucking hate this about drum n bass, and anyone on here knows I'm the hugest drum n bass fan. I mean fuck you might as well have DJ clue up on stage yelling "DJ CLUE, BRAND NEW SHIT!" With that horrible echo... Fuck what happened to actually digging through crates to find dope tracks, rather than playing what's ever new, even if it's complete shit. I don't care if it's new, I don't care if it's on plate, or it's a world exclusive, if it sucks here, it's gonna suck everywhere else.

There was a big post on nwdnb.bc.ca about d&b becoming too mainstream, and I personally think the above will completly saturate and kill drum n bass one day.

Anyways, back to the topic.. I don't understand how this isn't done at smaller shows, even with local DJs!!
