Wow I cant beleive you dared to surf in Tofino at this time of year. I did a ton of surifng when I was in Autralia and fell in love with the sport!!! Bashed the knee on some rocky coral, got hit in the head by another surf board, and must of drank over a liter of sea water... but still one of the most thrilling sprots ive ever done. Funny enough Im not a fan of snow boarding at all... doesnt compare at all.
I thought about trying some surf in Tofino. Otherwise Ill just try to take advantage of places I travel with hot warm beaches :D Last edited by Ree Fresh; Dec 01, 05 at 11:32 PM. |

surfing is lotsa fun. i suck at it though
everyone expects everyone from australia to be pro at it - but not all of y'all can ski and snowboard, right? please dont prove my little theory wrong?! but i have heard tofino is the place to go in Canada for some good surfing - i just have major reservations about the temp. of the water there! |

Once i get everything work visa wize for New Zeland i have many many surfworthy plans..:)
I've worshiped too many documentaries and dvd's, whenever i stop in at Second Wave in North Van i kind of just stand amoung the boards...and stroke them..lol..but seriously..I cant wait. I'ts so cool when you hear people talking about it as this spiritual experiance for them.. Id like to know what their talking about. I've had this vision of living in a wee little beachside community since god knows when.. *sigh*... i was born in the wrong climate |

last summer when me and my friend went to Tofino to surf we were heading back to the resort and it was starting to get dark outside and we knew that it probably wasn't safe to walk along the gravel path/road back but we kept walking thinking nothing bad would really happen. then my friend was like "wow, that's a really big cat up there.." and i was like, "OMG that is NOT a cat." and then we both started freaking out cause we had no clue what we were supose to do if a cougar started coming at us, so we backed away..not turning our backs to it, cause we didn't know what else to do! but it started creeping toward us, and it got within 10 yards, before a car started coming down the road and the cougar backed off into the bush again. then we flagged the car down and got a ride back to our room, it was SO scary!
besides the cougars...Tofino does has some great surfing! i love it. |

tofino waves are cool to learn on. the water is oh so cold though...
the best waves i've hit were a few KM's south of Todos Santos, 25~ footers... crazyness. after an hour of surfing, I was feeling how out of shape I actually am(I'm not 18 anymore people! lol) |

ahh, I wanna go surfing again so badly!
I contemplated doing it in tofino, but there's something about surfing in water that could cause brainfreeze that's rather unappealing. I'd love to plan a trip down to california though and surf (much cheaper than australia!). anyone here ever surfed in washington or oregon? |
